Do gun laws affect homicide rates less than we think

California and Texas had the exact same murder rate last year despite having very different gun policies. Louisiana had the highest rate out of all 50 states and has strong gun-rights, but so does New Hampshire, the lowest. The key seems to be DEMOGRAPHICS above all.

The biggest reason for Louisiana's high rate is New Orleans. There's a murder or 10 every night. That's a liberal city as well compared to the rest of the state.
