Lovely. Coach of the future after learning under Pop for a while perhaps.

Oh spurs have big plans for marks
everyone is high on this Messina guy must big a big move for spurs
So is the guy who forgot Kawhi on the bench gone?
Waiting on tspence to confirm.
Nice! I don't know anything about him but his record looks great.
Awesome. Hang out under Pop for a few seasons then take over. Future is bright.
Big deal for the Spurs' coaching staff. Great news!
Taking the whole "most international team" thing to a new level..
Finally!
The heir apparent.
Off season steal
I wonder if he has his own ty Ayres he's gna drag along like Boylen
tspence is now a ST meme.
Glad to see Messina on board.
What a great offseason...
1. Draft a perfect Spurs' system player in Kyle Anderson
2. Re-sign Mills at a great rate due to shoulder injury
3. Re-sign Diaw to a reasonable contract
4. Add one of the best international coaches as an assistant to the coaching staff...
Doesn't get much better than that.
Check out his career coaching record in the Euro League courtesy of 'euroleague.net'...

Ten words bro "jeff Ayres has been trade for a bag of skittles"
Great move. Glad it came to fruition.
So the news before the finals that he was gonna be brought over was actually true.
Ginobili is on record saying that he owes his development into an NBA-caliber player to Messina when Messina was Manu's coach prior to Manu's NBA days.
Awesome news. Though, I'm not sure how much assistant coaching really factors anymore.. not since the Spurs went further with Boylen&Marks than they did with Bud&Brown. But adding more knowledge is never a bad thing.
Wonder how long he'll stick around.. doubt a coach with his rep will still be here by the time Pop's contract is expired.
Wow, I knew Messina is an awesome coach, but didn't know that. Incredible offseason so far.
About time. Hope he stays for awhile. He can be the future for this team.
From the official press release:
"I am honored to have such an accomplished individual join our program,” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. “Coach Messina is an exceptional coach, a great leader and someone we can all learn from."
