Rest in Peace. He was great on Conan as well.
"Old fashioned toilet"
-Abe Clemenza
Well reading this thread has shown me that I've never seen anything Abe Vigoda was in but I've always known who he is. RIP
I used to watch "Barney Miller" and Vigoda was old on that show. He was old in The Godfather. I think he was born old.
I was not a big fan of "Miller." Especially Vigoda's bit. The boundless toilet humor, eh.
They had the one good episode. Anybody remember this one:::the Mexican kid (he also did a plum role on "Sanford.") Gregory Sierra, who also had a nice turn in "Papillon." Anyway, in this "Barney" episode he shoots & kills a perpetrator and cannot get his mind around it. At the end of the episode Barney Miller goes and visits him in his apartment. He is simply inconsolable no matter the counsel of Miller. No quick fix in 26 minutes of air time...this time. Miller leaves the apartment and Sierra breaks down in a cascade of tears, his body wracked with it as we fade to black. No, no audience applause on this night.
"Can't do it, Sally."
Abe was a stroke of casting genius.

I vaguely remember him having his own show as well after he hit it big. Didn't last long as I recall.
