As they blow another series lead
3-2 series lead vs Miami 2013
3-2 series lead vs Clippers 2015
2-1 series lead vs Thunder 2016
3-1 vs Nash Suns. Oh wait, wrong franchise.
The 2003-2007 Spurs would rip your heart out when they had a lead. This latest version (2012-2016) is uncharacteristically horrible in the clutch
2-0 vs OKC in 2012
With the exception of 2014, very true
2014 they were dominant...only clutch moment they had to face was Game 7 against Dallas--and that was only because they underestimated them. Reminded me of the Lakers-Rockets series in 2009 that had no business going to 7---Lakers looked disinterested for half that series. The Game 6 OT win in OKC was impressive too, but Thunder were injured that series and San Antonio dominated all their home games in that series.
I wouldn't say Timmy has been "coattailing" or "failing"...far from it...but yeah, it's time for him to hang 'em up. Manu, too. Time for the Spurs to get some new blood.
That would be the end for Pop as well. He vowed that when Duncan quit he'd quit.
No, he's a chicken with that. That was before 5. Since then he's gone smug and and thinks he can coach the choke out of Aldridge.
When Manu and Tony could be trusted to close games, Spurs were deadly as if they had even a 4 point lead on you late. With the rise of the 3pt shooter and 30+ attempts a game, and Manu/Tony no longer what they were, there's been no real consistency with closing games. Just goes to show great players don't come around that often, and they aren't always obvious during the draft or their first couple of years in the league. Chemistry is a hard one to develop and it overcomes lack of raw talent with veteran players.
I lol'ed
Still no post mortem, or, examination of the death scene from Thursday night. Same stale headline moving down the queue about Duncan & the pile keeping their retirement options as wide open as Tim's asshole.
Christ, if the tables were turned they'd have Westbrook hung up there like Mussolini and Tim's asshole would still be as wide as an axe handle.
