People that don't pray should be requested to issue "best wishes" etc.
Hey I hope your brother get's well soon...
My brother was told he has a kidney tumor yesterday...
There is a 65% chance it's malignant so the doctor told him he should have the kidney removed asap.
I am closer to my brother than any other member of my family so this pretty much sucks. My brother is understandably afraid and he has a wife, a 4 yr old son, and an 8 yr old daughter. I don't really know what to tell him.
I'm not religious and never have been. I don't believe there is any "being" that listens to prayers. However, I find myself praying now since I figure it can't hurt. This might make me a hypocrite, but I don't know what else to do. I'm not asking anybody to pray for my brother since you don't even know him (except Jim!). I just thought I'd express my thoughts since it is consuming my mind today.

TLong, I'm sorry about your brother. And there's probably not much that you can "tell him" but just try to be as supportive as you possible can. If he has to go through a surgery, then you'll need to lend emotional support as well as likely help out with the kids or whatever else they might need.
Even though you are not asking for prayers, I'll pray for him anyway.![]()
I hope your brother comes through this OK, tlong....you and he have my prayers, requested or not...
I am not religious either, but I send positive thoughts his way.
I'll keep him in my prayers...
Talk to you him about anything but the tumor.
Just let him know you are with him.
I'm sorry about your brother also.
I think that praying isn't something bad, even when you are not beliveing...
Sometimes it is worth a try, you are not loosing anything but you can gain...
My best wishes to you as well. Hopefully all things are positive for you and your families.
I'm sorry to hear about your brother..Both of yall will be in my thoughts and prayers.Try to stay strong for your brother even though it will be very hard..The bottom line is this..Right now, he probably needs something to focus on other than the fact he is sick..Humor works wonders believe it or not..
Praying in times of trouble is a natural human urge whether you're a believer or not. Don't feel like a hypocrite, it shows how much you care.
I wish you and your brother the best. God bless.
You and yours will be in our prayers.
Tlong is one of my favorite posters. You crack me up. I am very sorry to hear about your brother's present situation. I say present because it will soon be the past. I have faith that God will bring him and his family through this. Just by saying you are praying now because you don't know what else to do shows you have faith in something. If you didn't you wouldn't be praying. I know God see's that faith and will be with your brother. I'm praying for him man.
Dang TLong...sorry about that...hopefully they caught it in time before it spread...fortunately he can do without one kidney and the surgery is fairly routine...
I don't believe in a god that answers prayers but it doesn't hurt to cover all your bases here...
However, since you would ask a question like this, I must ask you...
Are they going to use a sheep kidney?
Just wondering...
(seriously, hope your brother is OK)
Is this true? Should I not talk about the tumor? He must be thinking about it all the time. I know I would be.
Perhaps ask him if he wants to talk about it? If he doesn't, then you talk about other things. He may not be ready to yet..
Let him be your guide in the conversation. If he wants to talk about it, by all means, go ahead. Don't be afraid to mention the elephant in the room. Fortunately, unless they find cancer and find that it has spread, the prognosis should be pretty good.
And, I'll be praying for y'all as well.
Yes, if they have caught this early (and it sounds like they may have), your brother has an excellent chance of recovery and will live a normal life with only one kidney. I hope everything turns out well for your brother and your family.Fortunately, unless they find cancer and find that it has spread, the prognosis should be pretty good.![]()
The tumor is very small at this time so I believe they have caught it early. I guess they won't know for sure until they get in there and look around though.
I read your post and so I've prayed for your brother, tlong. Believing makes all the difference...and not just because it can't hurt, but because it can help!
Most of my life I considered myself spiritual rather than religious. Lately though I have seen the benefits of prayer in my life and the lives of others. But if you don't believe in it then rely on the aspect of positive thoughts. Praying is a form of thinking positively and I am sure your brother would appreciate all the positive energy and thoughts you can give him right now. What is his name, so that we can say a prayer for him?
My brother's name is Rex. Rex Alan Long.
Thank you. I'll say a prayer for him every day.
God listens to prayers whether you're religious or not.
