    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2...lack-love-game

"And I was talking to a Hall of Fame football coach and he said one thing he sees about basketball from the outside looking in, more players today are interested in what the game can do for them. They don't actually love the game like we did. I'm 41 years old and I still play the game every day. And I can see that the love for the game is not there, but I'm happy that we had a hand in for these kids to be able to get the money that they're making and the game is going I'm happy [about] that, but at the same time they got to be professional and continue to show fans that they love the game too because it can get away from that."

how about them players more concern about stats..whether its 30pt games, or trying to get triple doubles, cause they will have leverage at the negotiating table

It's always sad (and somewhat jarring) to see an aging rebel complain about the new kids . . .

Captain jack seems like he blew his career nba earning on hoes, drugs, and bling bling, that he now has to say controversial re ed takes(i doubt he believes himself) in order to get a paycheck from espn to continue his degenerate wannabe gangsta lifestyle.

Jax is a , especially when it comes to all things Spurs-related...but I don't think he's totally off base here.

Yesterday the TNT guys were discussing Embiid's latest injury and joking how he was just taking time off for "rest" or "load management". The consensus between Shaq, Kenny, and Chuck was that back in their day, guys didn't sit out games for tendonitis...every player was dealing with some sort of tendonitis or bruising or some other injury. They just played through it.

Couple that with the fact that there weren't nearly as many trade demands, super-teams, collusion, etc...and I do believe that players of their era did at least appreciate the compe ive aspects of the game more. Timmy played like 10 years through tendonitis and plantar fasciitis...he just put on his leg brace and went to work.

Now obviously, we have also come a long way medically and players are learning the value of listening to their bodies and trying to lengthen their career. It's hard to exactly call that wrong...unless you are like Nephew and sitting out games because my tum-tum hurts

Aaaand that's why Jax went off to Atlanta. Love of the game.

"The NBA better do something, or all the money is going to corrupt the game." That's cutting edge stuff there, Jaxy.

That’s a lie from Shaq after he won his first championship he always took 10-15 games off a year.

Yeah, I remember when he had surgery one year, in like August or September. When asked why he didn't have the surgery immediately after the season, he said that he wanted to recover on the Lakers time, not his.

It was actually $1M in ATL and I believe the Spurs offered 3yrs/$9M, which i think was at or over the MLE at the time. When we signed Terry Porter in 99, he got the MLE, which was $2.65M per year.

In terms of dumb takes and bad opinions, Jackson is barely above Lavar Ball. He only gets quoted because media outlets know he'll say something provocative, regardless of how ridiculous it is.
