"sure we talked to the Russians. we believe in diplomacy, so we had discussions with our various counterparts in other countries. Who wouldn't?"

Sessions has a leg to stand on, sure. It's a very lawyerly leg. If Sessions was telling the truth, he told it in a very misleading way.
OTOH, the blanket denials of contact by Trump staffers are straight up false. not sure why they felt they had to deny legit diplomatic contacts, but they did.

The meeting with Russian ambassador was on his schedule as a Senator. There is something very wrong, or it really was nothing. This is getting very strange. Again as Wineman noted, why?
