Sounds like a good thing.
since someone will probably make a thread about this...
Bertans is one of our best D-League level talents. Good for him.
Would love to see Porzingis play too. Latvia has some nice talent.
D-League level take right there. Bertans is a great fit in todays NBA, particularly offensively.
Yeah he definitely is a rotation player on almost every team in the league imo
He can tell Porzingis how much fun it is to be a Spur (recruiting pitch).
"So how are you enjoying the Knicks, Kristaps?"
Kristaps will go to LA or Houston before SA
I like Bertans...not sure why that comment offended you. A 210 pound forward that looked lost a lot on the floor a lot of the time is still D-league in my book. He's got a long way to go, hence why Pop chose to only give him 8 minutes a game in the post season. I think he's got a higher ceiling than the majority of the current roster. We might see that maturity this year.
He seems happy to play for Latvia... that smile.
Happy for him. I hope the experience serves him well.
(oh wait, go Latvia go!) Riga time!
8 minutes a game. in the playoffs. his first year here. even though he was lost on D. and the Spurs had too many PFs
if LMA gets traded, Bertans will be playing a lot of minutes for SA. I don't know how you could possibly think he's headed to the D-League
I mean, someones gotta play him
I have reached the point where I hate to see any Spur playing basketball when he is not wearing the silver and black.
I'd really like to see what Bertans can do with at least 25+ minutes a game
I know this is probably a point of debates among the different player fan bases here, but I actually like any of the Spurs internationals to play ball in the Summer. I think they have opportunities at better compe ion over the summer than at the summer league or practices with friends in a gym somewhere. Some have the opportunities at play bigger roles for their national teams. Specially the young players get cast in small roles for Pop, where maybe they can do a lot more. I think Patty and Cojo when younger grew up a lot in international play.
Hopefully he practices his rebounding.
When your a 3 point shooter kinda hard to get rebounds under the rim.
You don't shoot threes on defense. He's a ty rebounder, period.
Bertans should recruit Porzingis to the Spurs
It would make my day,

This is true. But he's also adjusting to life closer to the basket on defense as a '4' now after being a wing most of his life. He's also not physically strong enough (yet) to carve out his spots when positioning for rebounds against your typical NBA bigs. I expect that he'll gradually improve as a rebounder over time with both physical and basketball maturity, though he'll never be Dennis Rodman in that regard.

Your Spurs coach, Gregg Popovich, said you've got a bright future with the NBA team. In an interview with the San Antonio Express, he called you "an all-around" player and said your shooting skills are "pretty unique".
I feel good. At every game I get some more minutes on the court, and as I am getting adjusted to the way we play here, it is getting easier and easier for me.
