I would like to see that happen, but I just don't see it happening.
This is the big one.
Being a Notre Dame fan, I'm naturally picking the upset.
But it should be a good game.
USC gave up 21 points to Arizona, but the Irish lost their only home game of the year to Michigan St.
USC 43
Notre Dame 45
Texas becomes #1 and Notre Dame moves up to #5.
I would like to see that happen, but I just don't see it happening.
The wheel bearings on the Notre Dame bandwagon would sieze up under the increased load from a ND upset.
You could argue that Texas may benefit more from USC going undefeated.
Leinart should be able to throw for at least 400 yds against that weak ass ND secondary
I'll be rooting for the Irish though
and my main man LB Casey Cullen (a former hs teammate of mine from Victoria TX)
Unless ND's secondary does a Cinderella, I look for Leinhart to have a big passing day. Weiss is the master of offense, but his offense will have to be clicking and the defense will have to make several stops in order for ND to upset USC. Of course, there's always the "luck" factor as well.
"USC is down by 4...10 seconds left, the ball is snapped....Leinart throws...Bush catches the ball on the 50, he's all clear!!, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, OH NO!...he tripped up at the 15. He was all by himself and he tripped at the 15 and the game is over...Notre Dame wins!.....wait...look at the replay..is that..a...hand? coming out of the turf?"![]()
LOL! I recall a big game vs. Michigan some years ago when the Irish were down with very little time on the clock. The ND QB threw a pass right at a Michigan defender. The ball bobbled off the defenders arms and right into an Irish receiver's hands for a TD. That's just ONE incident in a string of "lucky" happenings the Irish have been privvy to in their history. They'll definately need some of that "luck" this weekend to pull the upset.
I'm going to have to say don't depend on handicapping college football games as a future career choice.
Man i will bet someone in this forum diinner that ND upsets usc......
j/k but nd will win mark my words
of course, i think (and hope) sc will win. i'll go with 42-24.
i hope this game is like 2002 when both teams were ranked in the top 10 and sc went on a tear. but i doubt that. it will definitely be harder this year for a couple reasons... it is in south bend not la and our top linebacker might not make it back (his backup is also out for the year) plus numerous other injuries on the defensive side. hopefully, our offense can make up for it. i also think that the team is pumped up for this game... part of the reason why they let arizona keep it close.
USC 52 ND 28
Why does USC comeback in the second half? Easy answer. It is not the guys throwing, catching, running the balll...it is the BIG BOYS up front. Control the line of scrimmage, control the game. That little 3 foot area is so crucial. It is how my "Men Of Corn" dominated for so long. If you can control the Line of Scrimmage for 60 minutes, then you can be predictable and still win. The Huskers and others have proven it for years. Take your eyes off of Lineart and watch the "LINE ART".

Half Man, Half Machine Brady Quinn throws for 900 yards and 11 TDs. Notre Dame wins in 7 OT.
Actually, Notre Dame's offensive line is one of the best and most experienced in the country.
My fantasy Rose bowl matchup would be UT vs ND. Only God could make that happen. It would be a cool historical matchup since the Irish Catholics' main rivals were the Protestant "Orangemen."
I'd give my Irish ass to see ND vs UT this year.
I could tape the game, put a sound track with it
and send copies to my "favorite uncle" a UT bandwaggon
fan..
The sound track= "It's crying time again, ..."
Go Irish, May the Saints be with You.
I hope Notre Dame can beat USC, they defintely have a chance if they bring their A game throughout the whole game. They will really need it in the 2nd half when USC usually takes over.
ND will win the game by a ing field goal mark my words fella's mark them well
I will mark your words and then you will eat them.
ND +11.5 on my service.
I might tease them & give them at least another 6pts.
ND comes crashing back down to earth this Saturday. USC wins easily.
I know all streaks must come to an end but the 27 in a row is not a fluke. It's hilarious to me that many Texans don't appreciate USC football. Bush and White is like erson and James but they have a QB too. And we can't forget about Dwayne Jarrett who happens to be a sop re. The guy is Mike Williams with speed.
I really want to see Southern Cal and Texas in the Rose Bowl. I think they are the two best college teams I have seen in a long time. Vince Young is the real deal.
SC 37 Irish 29
