this team is missing 2 starters not just kawhi
they are missing the engine
it is great for the other guys to get used to but they will struggle at times
missing 2 out of 5 starters make most teams barely .500

Despite some onerous contracts, this roster is better than given credit for, but this is what it looks like when you play an antiquated style, don't have a starting PG and the one perimeter player you have who can create their own shot, is injured.
There's no magic elixir or "system". You need talent and they don't have it in the most important areas right now, which makes virtually every other player have to do more than they should and makes them look worse than they are.
Could have had an above average starting PG, in Bledsoe, but decided culture and a hit or miss prospect, was more important than potentially increasing the odds of losing Leonard or at least wasting a good portion of his prime, not to mention the remainder of Aldridge's.
