John would like to go to Corpus Christi for a week-end, and I'm not having much luck finding information. I'm hoping that someone here is familiar with the area and can make recommendations for any of the following, I've listed some things/places that I was able to find a teeny bit of infomation on, but all advice is welcome!

    Golf

    Attractions
    Casino Cruise
    Fishing Charters
    Boating Charters

    Hotel
    Omni
    Leisure Club
    Plantation Suites

    Shopping
Art gallery or some place to buy hand blown glass and beads

    Beach
    To sit back and relax

    Seafood
    Two George's on Everhart Rd
    People's Restaurant on River Rd

Other food recommendations - local, not chain preferably

    Thanks for your help!

Visit port Aranasas or Mustang island if you want the best beach in the area.

I also recommend the Texas state aquarium and Lady Lex Carrier display.

Do you recommend a particular tour route? It indicates that there are 4.

The Aquarium tour just goes around in a circle. Just get the cheapest they have you won't need any guided tour (everything has signs or interactive voice).

The Lex I don't know about any options there.. been a few years.

What kind of fishing do you want? shore, bay or deep sea?

You said what kind of fishing do I want.

If I had my way we'd be going to Houston and watching the Rockets or the Texans, nice restaurants, great hotels, not doing any of this nature crap! But I'll check with John and see what he had in mind and get back with ya, thanks!

I am looking forward to the aquarium though. Loved the one in New Orleans, but we went right after that walkway collapsed and the people fell in with the sharks so we didn't get to see them.

    lol Nature crap.. uh huh..

If your not going to Port A then there is a large charter bay boat that does trips off the piers by the seawall in Corpus. I forget the operators name.

If you think nature is crap I doubt you could handle a 9 hour deep sea trip without puking your ass off.

What's the T-head and where downtown is it? Do they provide the stuff to grill the food? It sounds great, but we live in an apartment so don't have any of the fun supplies to do that sort of thing.

I don't go to any of the Clubs or Bars right downtown it just a bunch of stupid loud teenagers but if your Male 25 and single its the best place to be.
Since I'm going to touch worms, his ass doesn't get to go here or the strip club

Thanks again for all the help!

I don't think nature is crap per se, I just prefer air conditioning. Oh, and the sun is the devil. Is there any way to tell if you'll get sick on one of those trips? I don't get car or air sick, love coasters and bungee jumping and stuff, don't really have a weak stomach. But I don't want to go and ruin it for him.

    Carie

Oh yeah, sorry Bat. If I go fishing I'm sure the weather will be crap so you won't really be missing anything

If ya'll do some fishing out of Rockport, hit Moondog's afterwards. I live in Rockport during the week and that's one of my wife's favorite places to go.

There's also the Dorado bar (at least that's what I think it is called) over in the Key Allegro marina that's nice as well.

If you're looking for something "fancier", you can hit Hemingway's. It's a little pricier, but where else can you sip 18 year old Macallan after dinner and listen to the piano guy play "Beauty School Dropout" from "Grease"?

I like to get some of that shrimp. Butterfly it and pan fry with cajun breading (no msg kind.. hard to find without msg). And serve with bake potato, ribeye steak and some green beans.

Oh btw if you want good eats.. I hang out at Crazy Cajun in Port A. Order the hungry Cajun. It's damn good eatin'

What's Moondog's? I googled it (is that actually a verb?) and found a musician and a bar in PA.

We're actually looking for a variety of places to go, including nicer ones so this sounds great. Any idea what the dress code is? It's not mentioned on their web site. But if we go and John starts singing along to any "Grease" songs I'm blaming you

Do you know of any other nice restaurants? I tried to find them by ratings, but they didn't have any 4-star restaurants listed on any of the sites.

    Market rate per pound.

And it's iffy as far as size or availability. They don't always have shrimp or something they have uber shrimp. It's not like the old days.

That menu sounds great, are you coming along to fix it? Because if I do it won't resemble food, and if John does it'll be 'blackened'. You know, burnt but since he's got some Cajun roots we call it that to make him feel better

Oh btw if you want good eats.. I hang out at Crazy Cajun in Port A. Order the hungry Cajun. It's damn good eatin'
Stupid question about Cajun food, if you ever fix it. Do you know if the sauces or seasoning generally have anything that might have wheat in them? Like bread crumbs, vinegar, modified food starch, soy sauce?

Yea I have a friend that owns "Rambo", a small shrimp boat based in Port A. He says most of what people catch nowdays is lame and like bait shrimp. Just saying it's not like the old days. They overfished the shrimp. Still producing but only at a fraction of before.
