How does it in any way help the Spurs? And considering it doesnt, and does more damage than anything, why are the fans so willing after what the Spurs have done for San Antonio make them fight for the same turf? Doesnt seem right, or fair.

If this in anyway hurts the Spurs why support it. The Saints are not a charity case.

This will not hurt the Spurs.

Also, the NFL season is over by the time the real NBA season starts (after the All-Star break).

On the news here in Arkansas they have spoke over the weekend about how officials in San Antonio are already underway at trying to get the Saints. They said SA cannot support the Saints unless the state of Texas itself does it. Plus they would need another stadium built (as if texas doesnt have enough). Among other things... They also spoke about how if the Saints do move to San Antonio, they will never be San Antonio's team. That mentally Texans could never righteoussly claim the Saints as their own. They said it would be like the Cardinals moving to Little Rock, it just isnt LR's team no matter.

    Any of this true?

I'm sure Texas or anyone living here cares what a news station in Arkansas has to say.

Of course it wouldn't hurt the Spurs because to do so would run counter to the greatness of San Antonio de Bexar.

Damn, you put a NFL team in the middle of football-mad South Texas and don't expect that the heretofore only major pro team (a NBA team) in town might feel a pinch?

    If it does happen...

They'll be San Antonio's team just as surely as the ans belong to Nashville and the Ravens belong to Baltimore. Or the Cardinals belong to Phoenix, for that matter (yeah, I know you meant baseball, but ya get the point).

The new stadium vs. Alamodome renovation is a very sticky subject and will be roundly criticized no matter what the result is.

I know little about changing the affiliation of a region like the Saints might try to wrestle away from the Cowboys, but I bet it isn't easy. Maybe Jacksonville fans used to be Dolphin/Bucs/Saints/Falcons fans before getting their own team.

Why would it feel a pinch?

The freakin' football season is over before the all-star game.

Man, get off your "I need to make San Antonio look as bad as possible to arouse my pensi" trip.

What's likely to happen is that Mayor Hamburger or whatever will appoint a commission headed by none other than Buddy Holly to determine the NFL allegiance of all San Antonians and to arrange deportations of those who are unwilling to accept the San Antonio Saints as their favorite NFL team and Henry Cisneros as their Lord and Savior.

What would be awfuly scary will be the first time that the Spurs are ty and the NFL franchise is championship caliber if the Saints move there. What will those two bandwagons look like?

Exactly. Trying to sell tix for 41 games to see a lottery team play in SA? Yikes.

    See 1996-97.

I just feel like the Spurs in the long run are getting bumped. I dont really oppose the Saints if they move to SA, but if it hurts the Spurs I'd rather they off is all.

Every sunday night channel 11 does an hour show on news and happenings in the state and around us. Most of the show was about the Saints maybe moving and how ignorant Houston Nutt is.

Do I believe the Spurs will take a hit, no, if they do it will be a very small one.
