The Chi is an American drama series created by Lena Waithe about life in a neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. The pilot was directed by Rick Famuyiwa. It premiered on Showtime on January 7, 2018.
On January 30, 2018, Showtime renewed the series for a second season.
Waithe parents divorced when she was three, and she grew up on the south side of Chicago so she knows the story.
Don't have Showtime, yep...bummer.
Louis Armstrongs... SATCHMO...a fantastic read about black life. His was growing up in the Storyville region of New Orleans. He talks about laying in bed as a kid listening to gun shots and screams most every night.
