The Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision denied an appeal by a Nevada church to ease the state’s 50-person cap on worship to operate at 50% of capacity like casinos amid the coronavirus pandemic
Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court’s four liberal members to form the majority
Why are churches put under Stricter restrictions than any place else. Casinos 50% but not churches....
Is a church a business or just simply people gathering together? It seems that's what they're hanging it on.
I don't get the ruling myself. If a movie theater can operate at 50% capacity then I think churches should be able to as well to be fair.
Capitalism is our national religion.
Always that Bush plant ing it up.
Issuing and enforcing health orders are plain vanilla, traditional police powers. There is no controversy; the churches are being whiny because the law binds them too. Boo hoo.
Any police power that can be defeated by meeting in smaller groups -- or walking outside -- should definitely be defeated that way.
Capitalism works only for Capitalists, who will destroy anybody and anything anywhere to amass more Capital
eg, Capitalists toxically mining gold will destroy salmon stocks, thanks to Trash saying no environmental damage from gold mining.
