There were times he carried us last year and he really stayed in his role quite well. Played better last years than the last several years.

I don't think there is a universe where the Spurs screw Tony over (the guy Manu has been in the trenches with for over a decade) to placate a guy Manu might think isn't very injured, would encourage Manu to return to the Spurs. To screw one of the big 4 (the big 3 plus Pop) is to screw them all. To force one of them out is to force all of them out and I don't think the franchise is ready for that.
