Ali G basically prank called famous people and politicians; "Who is America" is a fake interview show on TV.
SBC's brazenness and knack for impersonation stand out to me. He's been pulling versions of this con for awhile.

When the "device" is waved near Mr Moore, it beeps.
In last year's Senate campaign, Mr Moore was dogged by allegations of sexual misconduct, which he denies.
His lawyers say the satirist falsely accused their client of being a sex offender.
They are seeking $95m (£73m) in damages from Baron Cohen and from the Showtime and CBS networks.

It is a Hollywood show, it was expected. Reading the shows reddit page, seems leftists are the only ones that took the show seriously as some sort of barometer of America

Cringe humor just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I want to like the show, but I tend to enjoy recaps of what he did more than actually watching it.
The he did/does was/is gold. If not for Ferrell being alive in the same period, SBC would be the comedic genius of the times.

Its very coarse. But the interviews he got in the early days were hilarious.
His Ali G character did get some sympathy when he first started an interview because played so clueless but willing. As the questions got more frustrating for the interviewee it turned golden as they realized the baiting. I need to find that interview with the catholic Cardinal where Ali G attempts to understand how Santa Claus and his reindeer fit in with the birth of Christ.
