This year's team would still be better if last year's roster is getting the current version of Aldridge..not even close, either..
Let's say the trade doesn't happen and Kawhi continues being a , so he sits for the season. All the other moves stay the same, except the Anderson resigning, of course. So you get:
Today's team
STARTERS:
Forbes
DeRozan
Gay
Cunningham
Aldridge
BENCH:
White
Mills
Belinelli
Bertans
Gasol
VS.
"Last season's" roster:
STARTERS:
White
Forbes
Green
Anderson
Aldridge
BENCH:
Mills
Belinelli
Gay
Bertans
Gasol
What team does better?

I honestly think last season's team would be better, tbh. The defense would be elite, and swapping Murray with White would make the offense better. Anderson would be allowed to play to his strengths as a point forward, with three perimeter players that can space the floor, and Aldridge wouldn't be sucking right now 'cause he would still be getting all his 1st option touches.
I dont know who the bigger cancer is..Aldridge for not playing well because he has to share touches or Defraud for taking all ma toucher FGA and making him less motivated.
Nice all stars you got here san antonio.
I remember re s celebrated the Belli signing bc he has big ballsand the departure of Fathead bc he's soo slow
.
Should've matched on Fathead, used the full MLE to sign a 3&D wing and they'd easily be the 2nd seed. Not a true threat to GS but then again who is. I also have no idea why they had been trying to move Danny for so long. It wasn't just this past off-season that his name had been thrown around in trade rumors.
We should've seen this coming. You can't win with so many turnstiles out on the perimeter.
Folks need to stop with this bull that all you need in today's NBA is three pt shooters. Sure, that's important, but more important than that is having good defenders. It all starts and ends there, tbh. There can be a million rule changes to favour the offenses, games can finish 140 to 145, but at the end of the day, you can't be a good team if you are not a good defensive team. In fact, I would argue that precisely because of these offense oriented rule changes, defense is more important than ever.
I think if you added a legit scorer to last years team they would have won more than 50 games. Last year's team lacked a true perimeter closer (Paddy Mills wasn't it). 39 Yr. old Manu was their best player in many situations to close games.
I wouldn't start Bryn ever. He's a nice shooter and would probably have a role as good bench player, but he shouldn't be starting IMO.
I have my doubts on how a legit scorer to share the burden last season would have affected Lamarcus let's be honest. If Lamarcus is taking a step back bc he's having to share touches, then there is no point.
But the way I see it the Demar/Lamarcus duo can't be really evaluated when they are surrounded by undersized players and marginal players most of the time.
Edit: people would have to admit having Danny and Kyle would be better than having Cunningham/Marco/Pondexter. They'd hopefully take those minutes plus some of the midget lineups would be limited.
No .We sure as wouldnt be worse with green and kawhi starting over derozan and cunningham
Spurs would have been better off trading Kawhi for Covington and Saric. Both would have fit better alongside crybaby Aldridge, who doesn't like playing with other stars. Derozan has lived up to his reputation as a low impact chucker that's playing in the wrong era. He would have been a more effective player in the 90s. In the modern era, having a wing that can't play defense or shoot the three is suicide. Might have been able to keep Danny too instead of losing him for that Austrian piece of .
Kawhitter wasn't part of the team last year, tbh.
Who gives a ?
Dejounte, Danny and Kyle were the keys to being far better defensively last year.
