It's pressure both ways. The market will decide. If the market says the owners make money regardless who's running the ball, the players will lose. If it's a star driven market, the players (star players) will win. In the NBA it's a star driven market. In the NFL not nearly as much, it's more about outcome. Champions in the NBA can still not be as financially successful as someone missing the playoffs several years in a row, depending on who has the stars and the market. So Lebron has the con here, he can say whatever he wants because he's earned that.
