For the 2019/2020 Season
Assuming the same players that we currently have minus Q.Pon and replace Q.Pon with one of our draft picks next year. Here is what mine would be.
Backcourt - Murray White Mills
Backcourt - Forbes Walker IV Draft Pick
Frontcourt - DeRozen Belinelli Cunningham
Frontcourt - Gay Bertans Metu
Frontcourt - Aldridge Poeltl Gasol
Forbes starting instead of White because of 3 point shooting. Year 2020 is when I believe White will be in the starting backcourt with Murray. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks. Happy New Year to all Spurs Fans. GSG.
For the 2019/2020 Season
Don't see Gasol back if he's just going to be third string. Too much money. Would be best to draft a dude like Porter with the Toronto pick to replace him and use the natural pick on a legit SF. But they might end up being undersized after drafting a PF and SF, where Metu and the PF are center depth (along with another two-way player), while the other pick is again a legit wing. I don't instantly see Cun being back with all this in mind. Unless the team makes some trades, they aren't going to have the room for a "general specialist".
White needs the ball in his hands to be effective. If he plays with Murray and DeRozan, he will never handle the ball. That's wasting his court vision.
Mills isn't going to be a third stringer
Pop will bury any and everyone who gets in the way of the $50 million dollar man
Will never get traded: Aldridge, Gay (friend of DeMar), DeRozan, Forbes (he is the Spurs success story and he will stay loyal to the Spurs forever a la Green), Lonnie & Metu (they won't trade someone who they spent time developing one year),
Keepers: Murray, White, Poetl (our future big)
Trade Assets: Mills (his days as a leader are no longer needed. Murray or Forbes will rise up to take that role), Gasol (no more space for him in the Line-up, his contract is valuable, Bertans (let's face it, his 3's are great but he's replaceable. It's increasing his trade value which is a good thing), Beli (same thing. This dude is replaceable. Unless he is the one who takes Mills' leadership role)
No trade value, probably unsigned: QPon, Cunningham, Eubanks
Starters:
Dejounte
Forbes
DeRozan
Gay
Aldridge
Main Bench:
White (Manu role)
Lonnie
1st Draft pick SF or trade/free agency

+ Players received from a Bertans, Mills, Gasol trade.... These guys actually have value now so we probably can someone decent.

I think midseason of 2019 or the season after, Lonnie will take the starting SG role from Forbes. Forbes has good chemistry with White anyway.

In an ideal scenario you ship out Mills and let Forbes play his role. I'd still like to trade for Bazemore this season.

Murray needs to have a catch and shoot 3 and a midrange jumper. DeRozan needs to work on his 3-point shot so there are no spacing issues with the starters
