As I understand it - she was distraught over her husband's career (as he was also apparently) - and had gone to the White House to see if the President could help out. Yes, simultaneous (allegedly).

That why he was prescribed antidepressants that he took before he died. It wasn't the most thorough diagnosis to be sure, but it did happen.
