He really helped salvage his reputation as he transitioned into a role player and humbling himself later in life, unlike Iverson, Melo, etc..

Like to see him break the oldest NBA player record. Don't see any reason why he can't. He's having a solid year off the bench 7ppg, 16 min, on 40% 3p shooting. Probably better than many younger players in similar roles. Higher RPM than Brandon Ingram

You think he'll ever beat Satchel Mutombo?

VC has been one of my favorite players in the twilight of his career. Like Harlem just said he wasn’t in denial about his abilities and has extended his career by playing to his strengths. Much respect.

Dikembe retired at 42 years/300 days. Vince is 42/37 days. So he should beat Dikembe. Next up is the Chief (43/254) at 3rd. Then Kevin Willis (44/224). And finally Nat Hickey (45/363). Reading about Hickey, it was a bit of cheat. He suited up for only 2 games and never played in the NBA prior.

During the 1947–48 season, Hickey, then the head coach for the Providence Steamrollers, decided to activate himself as a player and appeared in two contests. At the time, he was just a few days shy of his 46th birthday.
I'd say Willis the real record holder here. I think Vince has a good shot.

It's amazing how much athleticism VC still has to fade and contort on those long distance bombs. And every now in then he has an explosive drive to the rim too. So sure, hard work and adaptation. But also, the dude is still a freak of nature.

Seems like the kind of thread that would've been served by a YT video, OP.

I never thought VC would be such a hanger on'er (5th season in a row of under double digits ppg and 9th in a row under 44 with many in the 30's). But maybe his stats will go up if he's gonna shoot threes against these soft defenses

He is still a pretty damn good athlete for his age as well. Surprised his athleticism held up so well. Would have been nice if the spurs could have got him. Probably still dunks too much for pops liking

When he started driving I sort of half expected him to make the leaping dunk over Towns, plus the foul

today’s nba ultra soft perimeter defense is great for perimeter players.

It used to take energy an effort to launch threes. Now it’s a couple of illegal screens and launching with a “defender” 8 feet away from you because he can’t possibly guard you on drives due to everything being a foul.

that’s why the 1 motion jumpshot is so popular today
That would get blocked left and right in yesterday’s NBA

Guys like Vince would never have the highlights today that he had. They won't go inside. Even on the break some of them run to the wing.

As far as all-time SGs, after the big two, I got:

    Klay
    Wade
    Ray Ray
    Harden
    Vince
    Reggie
    Manure

Jordan and West were great, great big two. Missing Clyde and Dumars though.

He plays in his first Nike signature shoe (Nike Shox BB4). I had a pair way, way back in 2000.

Would be nice if Nike started retro'ing some of his old kicks.
