I think most are figuring out we aren't the same but think we know each other. Oh well, so what.
I own all that sci fi, heroic fantasy stuff. Ya can't beat Robert E. Howard when it comes to fantasy he's to fantasy what H.P.Lovecraft is to the supernatural, horror. His Conan stories (12 books) a fantastic journey, it gets no better than the Hyborian Age (sorry Tolkien). Conan wandering from adventure to adventure, dealing with demons, wizards, wicked wimmen, giant apes, serpents, all sorts of diabolical intruders, and Conan was not one to embellish on his accomplisments, if he wanted something he just took it., a stud of few words.
As you know TONS of sci fi authors of merit out there. I do think ya start with H.G.Wells, obviously you can't talk sci fi with Robert Heinlein, and the same can be said about Isacc Asimov,. .....Arthur C. Clarke. Olaf Stapleton's ODD JOHN a must read.
I do recommend....
Lord Dunsany
Otis Kline
Edgar Rice Burroughs
Fritz Leiber
Poul Anderson
J.G.Ballard...master of the disaster story
Roger Zelazny
A.E.Van Vogt
John Brunner
A.Merritt
Ursula K. LeGuin the queen of sci fi
Cordwainer Smith
....for anyone not into those genres now.
Odd John
