Do you not have a savings account to prepare for emergencies?
Do you not have important paperwork kept handy in case you can't access soft copies on your computer?
Do you not have a plan for natural disasters (i.e. - food, gas, water)?
though fear of President Obama and his political agenda played a role,
those who engaged in the activity were motivated more by
the general culture of fear that informs modern mainstream American society. WTF?
prepping, which has traditionally been portrayed as an apocalyptic belief in imminent disaster or the end of the world.
modern preppers are responding to a general sense of fear and concern about risks including
economic collapse,
cyber-attacks,
terrorism,
pandemics and
environmental disasters,
causing them to seek self-sufficiency 'just in case' the worst should happen.
Much of this fear is not derived from extreme ideologies, but nevertheless
remains connected to established right-wing politics in America,
which views Obama and other Democratic Party leaders exclusively through fear.

that's not the prepping that "preppers" do
Where I live, it's geologically stable, high above 500 yr flood plain, far from TX hurricane coast.
So I haven't invested $100Ks in hardened structures, guns, canned food, water, etc.
So are you not prepared for any emergencies? I don't understand your response...(honest question)

No savings account? No credit cards with $0 or low balances? No cash on hand just in case you need it?
What's your food, gas and water plans?
I try and stay ready for 5-7 days of disturbance. Cash in a safe, pantry stays full, extra water on hand, and I normally keep about 10 gallons of gas in my garage (enough to get me to/from work for about a week).
Gas and water have a shelf life. How often do you replace the gas
I cycle it out every 2-3 months.
