Good to hear a clear statement from the quiet owner. He's definitely setting himself up to look bad if things goes the other way, so that's at least a positive, I suppose.

It’s settled then. (Til at least 2032)

I honestly have never bought into the spurs moving Tinfoil fan theories tbh spurs are cemented in NBA history, teams that move are ones that have accomplished nothing
What's he supposed to say? He's going to be begging San Antonio taxpayers for a new arena in a few years.
Wondering if I was the only one that intially read downtown honkers as downtown hookers as one of the primary reasons the team was staying put?!
But Pollos Asados Los Nortenos is pretty killer, love that guacamole salsa they have. Never knew they had a location on Walzem.
So what he is saying is they wont be called the "Spurs" when they are moved...![]()
I think that was very classy and kind of moving.
those who keep bringing it up seem like they prefer the team to move which doesn't make much sense to me, unless you're not from san antonio, then perhaps it really doesn't matter for you? not sure... but whatever good to see that announcement.
You even got a mention
More seriously, if it is true that denying something in business has as much value than a fart in the wind, there's denying and denying... He could have just said "fake news" but I don't see the guy going emotional like that if he wasn't sincere.
It's not mutually exclusive, tbh.
I'm sure SpursTalk will find away to twist these words into some excuse that the team will be moving within the next few years despite all indications showing otherwise
Oh look, there it is
LOL you don't think they're going to move if taxpayers don't build them a new arena even though that's the absolute standard outside of markets like LA and NYC. Even a larger market like Houston had to foot the bill for 72% of the Astros' stadium and 77% of the Rockets' arena, though at least they only paid 43% towards the Texans' stadium.
So he started his message with mexican stereotyping
IT'S RACIST
Never should have to come to requiring a statement. Pathetic fan base.
We're so classy
one of the usual suspects, as a matter of fact.
Nah its kinda on the Spurs for people speculating because of their desire to play games outside of SA. That being said, I think it makes a lot of sense for them to keep the Spurs in SA as the sole major league sport in that city and as a gateway to Mexico plus with Austin nearby. Its a really good business situation and people are just being paranoid.
You can tell when something is about to happen, when the powers that be issue a statement saying it's all unfounded rumor.
I'd be shocked if they don't get at least 60% public funding on their next arena if they stay. And I'd be shocked if they didn't leave if they don't get it at least 60% public funded.
Would love for the team to be publicly funded if we’re paying for everything, but that conversation raises the dreaded P word, politics.
Public costs, privatized profits is the name of the game for small market sports teams. medium market teams too.
I wouldn't mind funding a new arena if they put it somewhere that makes sense and not a ing industrial area in the god damn ghetto
