In the end, Roby was a culture fit

Debate will go on and on about how if Roby was worth building a tank around. We will not know for certain until maybe half a decade later. Fact is: the Spurs believe it. I don’t think we have to look at his individual performance and assess whether or not he could have elevated his tanking game more or if it was possible for the team to raise its awfulness while paying him a minimum contract. I think the answer is simpler than that. With the Spurs in 2022/23 season, it has always been about sucking. I’ve been on record saying IR was a fantastic tank commander. Even during when I supported his fall, I held the same belief. It’s known he’s had a wonderful childhood, and that has led him to post random dunk photos on social media or just poses on the court. Everyone knows we need it. I’m excited to find out what that draft pick will be next year.
