The hard candy was shaped like a J to symbolize the Jesus was our rock of ages. The candy was made of white to stand for the purness of Jesus. The red represents the blood that Jesus shed to save us from our sins."

I've heard that story before. Its a nice one..
So what's that thing in front of the US barbershops got to do with Jesus?

Where do you live that they have "J" shaped barber poles![]()

There you go. I take it back, it wasn't that ty.
the serious answer to the barberpole question is that it had nothing to do with cutting hair. Back in the 1700's there were few doctors and the accepted treatment for many ailments was "bleeding" the patient...and barbers did this...the pole symbolizes blood and bandages...
*fun facts to know and tell*...![]()
