That game 3 Kahwi exploded for 29 was such a breakout moment. There was a steal on Rashard Lewis I think where Kawhi took it downcourt uncontested was the instant when I knew he was going to be unstoppable.
Seeing this video and thinking about 2014 still bring a smile to my face
Didn't know that on the first day of training camp, Pop brought the team to watch the horrific video of 2013 finals game 6 and dissect completely every single mistakes by all the players and coaches during that last 35 secs...Think only Pop and the Spurs family culture could pull this off without it backfiring and in the worst case scenario players hated/blamed each other more.
The shared trauma helped their bond and cohesiveness reached the greatest height that was displayed during 2014 finals.
Got to say if we won the 2013 finals, there is a good chance that we won't see the beautiful basketball in 2014. Nonetheless, kudos to Pop and the team for pulling it off.
Undeniably, there were years whereby Pop made questionable choices (see Bryn Fores) but his unique ability to manage people and care about them genuinely is the greatest.
The youtuber also mentioned that not all winner has to be like Jordan or Kobe. Timmy is a great leader and a winner too and not everybody can be like him and share his leadership and selflessness.

It was soo beautiful. Alkost 10 years removed and now its time to rebuild
Tim is the reason pop was able to do this. You think Jordan would let his coach explain his every mistake? Tim set the standard.
People always talk about Jordan and Kobe as being the pinnacle of compe iveness. But who is really more compe ive, the guy who MUST be the undisputed alpha dog even if it hurts his chance of winning, or the guy who will give up anything… money, stats, health, prestige… all in the name of winning? Compe iveness and ego aren’t the same thing, and that’s what people miss about Tim Duncan. Dude was a stone cold killer and put winning above everything, even his own ego and stats.
Duncan should have been Finals MVP. Said it then, will say it now.
Duncan would have been the only player to win Finals MVP in three different decades.
The difference between Timmy and MJ/Kobe is Timmy “anchored” the team, mentally, on and off the court, by offense or defense, Timmy “allowed” his role players to excel on what they do best, and them not having to play outside of their comfort zone. That wasn’t always the case with MJ/Kobe, and even sometimes their compe iveness imploded with fights among themselves. I seriously doubt there were locker room quarrels in Duncan/Big 3/Pop watch. The culture of “over oneself” was exemplified first by Timmy.
