COVID is ing nationally and so are hospitalizations. Young folks seem to be a bit more vulnerable in this wave, why not impose the very minor inconvenience of masking to mitigate infection?
Is there something wrong with trying to keep kids healthy and in school?

Measured as a share of all emergency room visits in children ages 12 to 15 years old, the figures published late Thursday by the CDC show weekly COVID-19 averages have accelerated to 2.43% through August 21.
Rates of COVID-19 ER visits in these adolescents have increased from 1.33% the week before, and are now higher than levels seen among most other age groups except for the youngest and the oldest Americans.

Masking mitigates infection by airborne pathogens. During a live airborne pandemic, when infection is rising, why not protect students and staff?

Well, the first step is to vote Lockdown Joe out of office. The next step is federal mask mandate/vax mandate bans. If the Dems win all these redistricting cases and ergo win the House, and Trump wins POTUS and only a slim Senate majority, then he can use executive order.
Look, I think people wearing masks outdoors are stupid, but they have the freedom and right to do so.. it's their body, their choice. But they have no right to tell us we have to comply with their mask mandates or that they aren't comfortable around us because we don't wear masks.
So not actually anything close to a civil war.

I used to believe this.
But I recently read a few studies how N95 and Kn95 masks leak chemicals when worn for extended periords and/or in extreme weathers (over 75 degrees celsius)
So I would not recomm3nd any children wear those masks for entire school year. Its borderline criminal.
