Yes. They only refused to give him his flowers because he was a rookie. Spurs will win 35ish games at least next year and he'll get the credit he deserves imo. Barring injury of course

If "s bag" is the former no. 2 for the SAS, you can probably eliminate him from all NBA contention. What are the odds that brittle old woman load manages his way into 65+ games two years in a row?

I think you're very much underrating Victor. His rookie year PER and VORP are very comparable to what Durant, Curry, and Edwards put up last year and Morant did two years ago and I think he's solidly in that second tier of stars with those guys. The only locks are the first tier of Jokic, Doncic, and SGA. Bron is so old you can't just write him in either despite the ridiculous season he just had; could see him falling into that second tier star level too.

You might as well put Morant in that All-NBA slot as a lock as well if he hits 65 games. If it only comes down to basketball reasons.. I’m expecting something like 29ppg.

Wemby can definitely win the MVP and DPOY next season it all depends on how many minutes per game he'll play.

I didn't say anything about deserve (I have no doubt he will on merit). You have to factor in the media votes on All-NBA and they rely on a combination of narrative, agenda/bias and groupthink.

It's why I listed some of the players in some of the categories I did and why no matter how the geriatrics look, they're not leaving them off of All-NBA.

No one's a lock other than the tier 1 guys, especially when it comes to the West Allstar teams.

The NBA like a lot of other organizations put a lot of onus on earning your place first. A lot of the conversation last year was really beating around that bush. I think most voters have come around by this point and watching him over this summer.

That last bit shouldn't matter but it does.

Personally, I don't see Davis as a lock. I also think the hype machine around Wemby will go in another gear. I see Wemby more as a lock than Davis.

Semantics. The bottom line is, whether on merit or not, the players listed as locks are at least more likely than him to make it.

Even though people like us would heavily factor in "catch-all" metrics and context of situation, history proves that many fans/media/coaches don't know/care and it'll be far down the list of factors.

Media's Spurs hatred (they don't play the game within' the game behind the scenes) will likely factor in, which they'll attempt to hide behind the guise of "winning matters".

Injury will obviously likely eliminate some of the locks, but since it's impossible to say who, I'm basing this off of relative health. I'd say stiffest compe ion for the final 3 spots are Brown, Mitc , Haliburton, S bag, Morant, Booker.

I voted All-Star only before I read the entire post and was thinking you meant first team. My bad. I think he'll be an All-Star (probably even a starter, I think the fan hype is catching up) and probably 2nd or 3rd team All NBA.

He can get the vote over AD if the media gives him a boost to offset their love affair with lakers coverage

The city of SA does a disservice to its pros as far as all star teams go. It’s embarrassing how bad SA is as a city when it comes to voting. ing OKC and Indy stars have more votes than SA stars. Wemby should be a starter and he won’t be. It’s going to come down between him and Chet for all star next year and if OKC is the 1 seed again then Chet will get the nod over him with worse stats but better winning.

Pop has already showed he doesn’t care about Wemby getting all nba and DPOY and even an All star appearance. He’s over himself so he’s over our players being on the team. Wemby got Sabonis over him as all nba 3rd team. ing Sabonis. Our team is still going to suck next year. I don’t see Wemby getting on all nba next year either.

Lasy year I had to argue with posters that all nba and all star teams and dpoy are important. But all I heard in response was it’s too early in his career or what you want him to win it all at once? Or whatever bull . Wemby should be all 3 next year but he won’t be even one of them.

Everything I've seen post-season from sportswriters, analysts, and from NBA/former NBA players on podcasts seems to indicate nearly unanimous agreement that Wemby should've won DPOY over Gobert this season... With so many agreeing that Wemby lost out on something he probably deserved, I don't think he'll be left out of anything earned next year simply because his team isn't great.
