    …yo mamma

nah, the GOAT youtube channel just released hours and hours of videos on draft prospects. Let’s see who wants to sharpen their scouting eyes by watching these videos. I know I will be. Maybe this will change your mind about certain players… maybe it will confirm things. Ace looks like a chucker after watching his video, tbh. Prospects turn out not to be so impressive when they you see their lowlights.

Tbh I come away less impressed. There isn’t much extraordinary about his play that we don’t see from an average big in the NBA, IMO

^I started watching this. Nothing pops with McNeeley. I see a player that just doesn’t stand out for what he does.

Why does Queen wear a long sleeved shirt during games? Couldn't the defender pull on those sleeves during a game down in the low post and get away with it if the ref doesn't see?
I don't recall seeing someone wear a long sleeved shirt in the NBA before (maybe I'm not remembering if other players have done in the past).

    Because he’s chunky.

Can't say I've ever seen that before. Quite an odd thing that's for sure.

He used to be extremely fat so I’m guessing he has body confidence issues. What he does have is confidence in his game.

You got me revisiting Wolf again, and even more convinced he’s a steal where mocks have him at early 20’s. Step-back 3’s, behind the back in traffic, The Dream Shuffle, not average for 7 footer at 250 lbs at all. These videos include the missed shots, and a lot of those I believe is him getting NBA stronger. The skills are there, reading the plays as they unfold, getting to the right spot, facilitating and hockey passes. He’s very confident when he shoots (very much like in that movie Air when Damon was describing MJ’s confidence). He’s not afraid to send them. It’s not the same as just chucking shots when you know it is the shot of the play, just missed some of them. And those can be corrected because he is confident on taking them. Give this guy 2-3 years of NBA strength training and shooting coach, he’s going to be awesome because the skills are already there, the high bball IQ. If I were to burn a 15th pick on a prospect, Wolf is a great prospect. A very high floor glue-guy 7 footer 250 lbs who can help Wemby in rebounding, blocking, rim running, passing in traffic, connector pass, and being in the right spots. Now you had me going on Wolf again

Dejounte, I agree with your assessments pretty much. Wolf seems like a good swing in the late first or if somehow (v unlikely) he's there in the early second. Has some good skills, but I'm not blown away. You'd hope he's like an Oleynik.

McNeeley unfortunately only briefly intrigued me after that 38 point game against Creighton. I think he was required to do too much for a Conn squad that didn't have a ton of creators or overwhelming talent. His pedigree is good, though, and may start popping on a contender who can bring him around, a Christian Braun type (diff playing styles), but there are many better options.

Ace Bailey is a crazy pick to me, tbh. I'd swing on him if I was a team at 10 or 12 or something, but there's so much wrong with his game despite great shot making abilities. If he was a few inches shorter he'd be late lottery. I'm not willing to pick him 10 spots too soon because he's a bit taller. To me he's a player you have to build around to fix his mistakes.

i watched the first 7 or so minutes of the mcneeley video

im aware he was an inefficient scorer, having 38/32 shooting splits from the field. i get it.

but about 7 minutes into the video, i charted that they showed 11 makes and 23 misses, which is less than 33% overall. they only showed 1 made 3 in that span, god knows how many misses. they showed several misses against creighton and im not sure they showed a single make, despite him shooting 12-22 overall that game.

im sure the rest of the video covers his make but that seems like a very odd way to give a first impression of a player.

I watch more what leads up to the miss (example: if it was a bad decision to drive or whatever) than the actual miss itself. Jase for example, has good misses. Ace does not because he shoots when there are three guys on him.

I would like more film on the international prospects. It’s hard to find full game tape of good/bad. Really tough to evaluate highlight videos or breakdown videos that only show the good.

Right, didn't know that. Thanks for explaining. Could very well be due to that. I just don't remember seeing someone wear a long sleeved T-shirt, so that is why I was curious if any had done so. Short sleeves are fine functionality wise, but I don't see how a long sleeve could not cause some issues with defenders grabbing at the sleeves when he's done low. Both off the ball and on. I didn't see why he'd wear one, but if he has/had body issues, that makes more sense.

So I watched Collin Murray-Boyles, Kasparas Jakucionis and Ace Bailey again because those were 3 prospects I was not sure about.

CMB I’m moving down. He makes way to many boneheaded plays. I think he is an empty stat guy. His on ball defense is overrated. I’m moving him down from starter potential to role player.

Kap Jak is really good. I’m moving him up into all-star potential. His shot looks good I don’t care about the percentages. Smooth! High IQ, handles, size, really good passer. I think he can be an average defender.

Ace Bailey looks the part. I’m going to trust that a NBA staff can develop him. He is so fluid. So athletic. Rutgers was so bad. Team was bad. Coaching was bad. System was really stupid on both sides of the ball. Terrible Basketball program. He will be way better in the NBA.

Since I last posted videos here, there’s been more videos added:
    Hugo Gonzalez
    Ben Saraf
    Asa Newell
    Joan Beringer
    Carter Bryant
    Nolan Traore
    Will Riley
    Kon Knueppel
    Khaman Malauch
    Egor Demin

Tape WAS hard to come by for some of these guys above, especially the foreign guys. Bow down to hardwood hoops

Starting at 1:15:36 is when it starts showing all his defensive clips. For me it removes all doubts about him being able defend the perimeter in the NBA tbh.

I did watch Queen’s defensive clips a while ago and we knew his defense isn’t great, but when comparing his film against Sorber it’s kind of eye opening. Queen might wow during workouts and scrimmages but if he doesn’t convince the Spurs that he’s committed to defense, there’s just no way he’s being drafted by them. On the other hand, if the Spurs are focused on finding interior defense support— they will find it with Sorber. He’s a wall down low.
