yeah but to properly evaluate the other guys, we need a coach who plays them at their natural positions. Even Fox is being played as an SG right now...
As of February 10th 2025, the only players who should be considered as part of the future are Wemby, Fox, and Castle. The rest of our roster is simply not good.

The only untouchable is Wemby. The Spurs would trade Castle or Fox in a second to get Giannis, the Joker, or Luka.
Agreed
i'd trade all 3 to get all 3
Sky is blue, water is wet.
But keep in mind that
Fox, because he just got here
Castle, because he maybe very good in the future
It would be interesting to look at teams who tanked for several years and then turned it around, and what the roster turnover was once they did so. I might make this a little research project down the road.
But essentially, I think when you go into a long-playoff drought, the guys who were here the entire time (Keldon and Devin, for example) get engrained with these loser habits and they are hard to break. This is one of the costs of the "just one more year of tanking and then we're set" approach. Every year you spend tanking is just another year of your roster buying into being losers and creates another layer of players you need to turn over to turn things around. You can't just flip a switch and expect the players who led you to a top lotto pick to suddenly be able to be playoff level players.
