I had the unique opportunity to cover the Spurs vs. Blazers game this past Sunday in Portland, Oregon.
Prior to the game, I got to meet Spurs announcer Sean Elliott, who is a former player on the Spurs in the 1990s and is well-known for the "Memorial Day Miracle" shot in the NBA playoffs against the Blazers, which kicked off the 1st of 5 total world championships.
Random Thoughts:
Jeremy Sochan and DeAaron Fox were both at the game despite being ruled out with injuries. Victor Wembanyama wasn't in attendance from what I could see.
On the Blazers side, Scoot Henderson and Deni Avdija were in attendance despite being ruled out. DeAndre Ayton wasn't on the bench from what I could see.
Devin Vassell went off this game, showing us a little bit of everything in his offensive arsenal. He showed us why he could potentially be the 3rd banana behind Fox and Wembanyama going into next season.
Jordan McLaughlin provided some great minutes off the bench at the point guard position. He played under control and made a few hustle plays.
