I think it might have to do with the statewide burn ban. I don't know for sure, but it's a thought.
Did they not have fireworks downtown this year?
the fireworks KENS is showin is from last year!

There were no fireworks in New Orleans either due to excessive fog, FYI. BTW, does anyone know if fireworks went off in Dallas or Houston?
There were fireworks (lots) but the fog made it very hard to see so KENS showed last years fireworks for the TV audience.
Has to suck for that one guy who drove two days from Canada to celebrate New Years Eve in SA.
We live less than a mile from Downtown, and were dissapointed because we coudln't see . We have a great view from here, but it was just too damn foggy.
In Maine, it's too cold to have outside fireworks. But we had some nice indoor fireworks after the AHL hockey game.
I've never spend New Years in a warm climate (I've crossed the border to New Brunswick, Canada most of the time), but I think it would be a blast. I hope to do that someday.
I just drove home in some serious fog. It's pretty nasty out there.
Question, could the fog have been made worse by the fireworrks set off around the city?
I ask because I was on I-10 about to head out (to a party) then decided to get my ass back home and off the freeway.
The fog is bad.
The fireworks around the city usually create enough smoke to cause a haze on their own, but the smoke also can act as a "seed" for cloud formation. So yeah, it could cause it to be foggier.
Dense fog was coming in from the coast all evening, so thats the main reason its like pea soup out there.
It was horrible. You couldn't see sheyitt! I was/am downtown looking for a show but nothing.....!
I need another World Car update from Vanessa and Karen.![]()
Sans the fireworks (or lack thereof) how was downtown this year?
I had to work New Years Eve last year (from 5pm-1am) at my former ty job. So I missed the show last year (although they showed it tonight because of tonights fog).
I couldn't tell you. Nothing could be seen. Not even the good ol' dependable West could be seen.
I went to buy fireworks but I was told all bottle rockets
Were banned due to the fact you could control fire’s in front
Of you but not 20’ from you…… maybe that’s why there
Were no extravagant light shows… there were also several
Other types of fireworks banned…..![]()
