Never watched it before cuz I cant stand Dakota Fanning. But its on HBO right now so I decided to watch it cuz I got off work early. So far, it is a great movie. Denzel is the man.

I am not even finished watching the whole thing and I highly recomend it.

That movie is the , we need more movies like that, and my favorite part is Trent Reznor helped with a lot of the music for the movie!

I would have rather him go with those dudes...while having snuck some sort of explosive along with him...and then killed them all...cause he knew he was gonna die anyway...might as well take them all out with him...

I got a little choked up at the end -- doesn't normally happen.

Just got around to watching Manchurian Candidate -- that had some good moments too.

That's the only part of that movie that I've seen...when he's got that timer thing going, right? That was messed up.

I just saw it in the past few days on cable. A powerful film.

The film trickery of super-saturated colors, high-contrast, under-exposed imaging is way past boring and distracting. Same for jerky, "hand-held" "cinema verite", "NYPD Blue" camera movement. Cheap tricks, and ineffective.

I felt cheated when the girl was still alive. One of the messages of the film was the horror and revulsion of chicken- ransom kidnappings ending in children dying. The horror and revulsion were gutted when she lived. Dakota Fanning's precocious, egregious over-acting deserves to die.

The father committing suicide so quickly and easily was not credible. Somebody shoulda told him the little was still alive.

It seemed like Mickey Rourke's lawyer character escaped punishment. NOT satisfying!! All lawyers should die, horribly.

The contrast between the sumptious, over-stuffed luxury mansion of the powerless victims vs the hovels of the powerful kidnappers was fantastic. I expect there wasn't much exaggeration in either portrayal.

Have Mexican police and officials and Mexico in general ever been portrayed as greasy and as corrupt as they were in that film? Anybody object to that portrayal as exaggerated?

The film certainly merits a second viewing.

The kidnappers were not completely punished, were able to negotiate exchange/killing of Denzel, and got away. (For sexy Hollywood hunk, Denzel's getting fat.)

It's easier to imagine what is was like when Manu's family received threats. Seems like every country from the Rio Grande to Tierra del Fuego is rampant with kidnapping and corruption.

    Thank you!!

Like I said, I cant stand her. Fortunately, since she was kidnapped in the film, she was only there in the beggining and the way end. Which made the movie so much better. Although a couple of the scenes with her and Denzel together were pretty good. Denzel is a great actor.

    .
*spoilers***Just in case the two people who havent seen the movie opened this.

    1) Didn't Mark Anthony cut off the lawyers head and throw him into the pool?
    2) Wasn't the head kidnapper killed by the Mexican cop 3 days later, or something like that.
