So far the starting lineup has combined for 9, 3, 2, 2, 2 rebounds collectively.

    Not good enough.

I think the fact that our three primary rebounders (Tim, Rasho, Nazr) each have 4 fouls might have something to do with it.

Well if at the start of the season you would have said "The Spurs will consistently get worked on the glass" it would of been a surprise, but of course right now it isn't surprsing.

Very worrying trend, but the Spurs have never had rebounding troubles like this recently, and they still have the same personnel. Hopefully they work there out.

    Tonight is typical.

Tim gets 12, no other Spur has more than 4

But 6 Grizz have 5 RB or more.

The Spurs rebounding failure is a team failure, not f/c failure.

Somebody needs a history lesson. I remember the Spurs signing Larry Smith because they were so desperate to get rebounding. After Smith retired, they traded for this guy named Rodman...

the detroit pistons believe it or not have been killed on the boards many times this year as well. the rebounding has gotten very good for the last week though.

i think your gaurds need to put an effort and try to dig out boards. the pistons before the last 3 or 4 games were getting beat on the glass almost every game, but the offense covered it up. now the pistons have gotten a lot more rebounds than their opponents over the last 3 or 4 games because chauncey rip and tayshaun have dug in their and helped.

The Spurs are shooting a higher percentage therefore have less oportunity to rebound the ball...

What is the excuse for defensive rebounds?

I'm not denying the Spurs' recent apathy towards the rebounding effort.... IT'S OVIOUSLY THERE, and was accentuated during our two nationally televised meetings versus Detroit this season.

I'm just trying to make a point that one can't just look at the overall rebounding numbers and draw the conclusion that the Spurs are always outrebounded.....

    Spurs are not always rebounded:

    http://www.nba.com/statistics/sortab...nf=1&prd=1#top

On avg, the Spurs outrebound their opponents, and so are +0.86 RB diff, while Pistons are only +0.57 RB diff. The lowly #10 and #12 RB-diff teams are #2 and #1 in W-L.

This is why Doug Collins mentioned recently that RBs can be misleading. ie, winning/losing RBs doesn't always mean winning/losing the game, but when a team loses RBS by 15 - 25/game, that's just too big a difference in posessions to overcome and nearly always causes a loss.

in 04/05, SA was about +2 RBs:

    http://www.nba.com/spurs/stats/2004/index.html

    about+4 in 03/04

    about +2 in 02/03.

Spurs are definitely having a bad RB year vs previous 3 years.

Spurs won pretty solidly @MEM but were still -8 RBs.

Nobody expected this. That's because no one expected Radoslav to be starting at this point. Look, I forgive Nazr for having a sick kid, being Muslim and having an expiring contract. End the sideshow and start the man.
