As an aside, have you ever heard a parent say "I have an ugly, ugly boy" or "Isn't she just so plain?"

here's Isabella, she loves the hunting hat and belt , but getting her to wear them with her overall's and boots is a real challange....

honestly I did not think that my newborn was "pretty" untill she was about 8 weeks old. Other peopel would gush about how gorgeous she was.... I was like .. ehhhhhhh. I loved her sure.
does that make me a bad mommy? or just honest?

My mom had this routine where she would bring her latest baby home and set him/her up in the crib and then let all the older kids file in to be introduced to the baby. It was apparently a magical experience with my older brother -- his siblings stayed transifixed with him for hours. When I came home she went through the same machinations, the older kids filed in the same way, took one look at me --
-- and immediately went into the other room to play with my brother.
My sister says I looked gorgeous about a two weeks later.
All my life, my maternal Grandmother told me that my mother was the ugliest little baby she'd ever seen when she was born.
When she was a senior in high school in 1950, though, she was homecoming queen!

Those are great pics, Obi. The kids are adorable. I have a pic somewhere of my daughter about when she was about the same age as Isabelle in a pair of her dad's boots that he wore for hunting. I think they come all the way up her legs. It is so cute. I love those kind of pics and memories. Take a really deep breath and slow down time and enjoy every second of this part of you children's lives.
