The Pacers’ backcourt depth will get a major boost Friday when veteran Kenny Anderson is expected to sign with the team.
Sources told Pacers.com that Anderson will arrive in Indianapolis Friday to finalize a contract with the team. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Anderson reportedly has turned down offers from Miami and Dallas this offseason.

Anderson, who turns 33 next month, is the top point guard available on the free agent market. He averaged 6.1 points and 3.2 assists last season with Seattle and New Orleans and has career averages of 13.4 points, 6.4 assists and 1.56 steals.

The 6-1, 185-pound Anderson will complement in bent starter Jamaal Tinsley, entering his third season. Both are native New Yorkers.

Anderson has been a starter most of his career, including 76 games with Boston in the 2001-02 season when he averaged 9.6 points, 5.3 assists and 1.86 steals.

The Celtics traded him (along with Joe Forte and Vitaly Potapenko) to Seattle for Vin Baker and Shammond Williams last July. Seattle then dealt Anderson to New Orleans for Elden Campbell just before the NBA Trade Deadline in February.

Well as much as I don't like the move, I hope Bird and Carlisle know what they are doing. I'd rather see Kenny McCormick back there instead.

He's averaged like 6points/game for the past 3 years. How explosive can he be?? He's an upgrade from Anthony Johnson but a downgrade from Erick Strickland IMO.

As long as Kenny knows his role as backing up Tinsley, then he'll be fine. I hope he doesn't become a hinderance to the team like he had been with the other teams he's played with over the years.

the past few years he hasn't had a chance to prove himself much, but he is a well known name. He is imo an upgrade from strick. He's a solid player that can be explosive.
