Alcohol here too.
Who's giving up something for Lent?
I really don't want this thread turning into a religion war or an argument about why do we give up something for 40 days.
I'm just curious about what everyone's giving up.
My sacrifice: Alcohol.![]()
I'm giving up organized religion for Lent.
I'm a Southern Baptist, back when I used to practice. We don't do Lent. We've already given up everything worhwhile (rock music, dancing, alcohol, movies, etc.). That's why I don't practice any more.
If I was gonna give up anything, though, it would NOT be coffee or chocolate.
Don't do Lent.
was that an answer or suggestion?
I haven't done "lent" for years, but when I did, I'd always give up Cokes....I used to go through about 3-4 Cokes a day.
Now I don't even drink cokes often....so I'd have nothing to give up.
So you are sin free?
I don't do lent either.
I'm Catholic, but I don't give up anything for Lent.
Don't tell User ... but I gave up sex.![]()

Catholicism.
Something tells me he'd figure that one out.
I'm giving up pooping.
When I was catholic I would always give up Coke or Pepsi. Which didn't really matter to me because then I would just go heavy on teh Bill Miller's tea for 40 days.
I gave up Dr. Pepper one time ... and switched to Diet Coke. I couldn't stand Dr. Pepper (too sweet) after that and have never really picked it back up.
Diet Dr. Pepper =![]()
