Let me preface this by saying that I'm not trying to be sarcastic or pick a fight and I'm still picking the Pistons to come out of the East:

How nervous are you guys right now? From what I've seen on this board when the Spurs hit stretches like that there is more cliff jumping than in a lemming migration. Most of the Pistons fans around here are pretty rational, but I know you don't represent 100% of the fan base. Are the Pistons boards flooded with bizarre trade demands and people trying to rally a lynch mob to pay Flip Saunders a visit? Or are Pistons fans a little more level headed in general?

I'll wait untill this next strech of games including Miami/Dallas/Phoenix before I get nervous. They did a similar thing last year (went 9-8 in March). They seem to have gotten somewhat back into the routine of overlooking bad teams like last year. And frankly, they haven't really played an interesting game since the Miami game. The only games I looked at between then and now were the Indy and Cavs games. All 3 of which they won with ease. Seems like a lack of interest.

I will admitt that I am getting a bit pissed off at Flip though. His rotations are iffy (the whole Evans/Delfino thing drives me nuts), and sometimes he seems a little to nonchelant about things. Though I guess that's his "players coach" stuff coming through.

Anyways, give me a week and a half and I'll let you know.

Speaking for myself, I've been nervous all year, and this month is NOT helping. I have been, and remain, nervous about the bench, nervous about the defense (or lack thereof), nervous about Flip... , I could write a separate post about each one of these, but yeah, I'm nervous.

At the moment, I'm nervous about the Hawks; I have visions of Josh Childress coming in early in the 2nd and lighting Tayshaun up, scoring at will until Delfino comes in, shuts him down and then sits for the entire second half while Childress blows up on Tayshaun and Evans....On the bright side, when I look at the depth chart

I can honestly say that we OWN their #3 shooting guard....

I think just with any pro sports fan site, the Pistons.com website has its share of fans that are very nervous, pissed off, and/or just disgusted with the play over the last few weeks.

I think most of the diehard Pistons fans whowatch and know basketball are not too worried at all. During the course of the season, teams experience lulls and slumps, if not boredom. And, all with the exception of the Washington game, all of the recent losses were games in which the Pistons had opportunities to win, and were for the most part in the games. In fact, in many cases, like the Lakers game, the Heat game, the Atlanta game, the Indiana game, and the New York game, the Pistons held sizeable leads in the second half. Moreover, all of those games were road losses.

People tend to panic or be disappointed after every loss. But, I think just like a lot of Spurs fans, Pistons fans have to understand the make-up of an entire regular season and how well teams perform against the elite teams, especially on their own homecourt.

Defense and rebounding is definitely a concern right now.

But, for me, and I think a lot of more rational Pistons fans, I'm not too concerned about the way things are going. On any given night, any NBA team can beat the Pistons. And, in a 7 game series, I think San Antonio, Dallas, Miami, Indiana, Phoenix, and even Denver could beat the Pistons. I still like the Pistons' chances. But, you just never know until it happens.

I gotta say...regular season means nothing to me. I was secretly hoping the Pistons would keep rolling and hit 70 wins, but to be honest, it was a huuuuuuge relief when they were finally human.

Much like my Red Wings, regular season is best left to Senators fans and Mav fans.

Pistons vs Any Team in a 7 game series. I like those chances. certainly cant be worse than 50-50, and there isnt a GM in the league that wouldnt like that line.

Hey the mavs season of 02-03 is happening exactly like this years Pistons. The mavs were hot early in the season but the starters were playing heavy minutes and the mavs wore down much like your pistons team. I wouldn't be surprised if the heat beat the pistons this year. Wade owns Prince.

Actually the Mavs didn't wear down, they just are incapable of playing playoff basketball. The Pistons resemble no Mavericks team in any way shape or form.

Okay, I'm a little less nervous about the defensive intensity now. Good to see them actually put the clamps on a team for a change, even if it is the Hawks.

    Halftime: Chauncey 0-4, 2 pts, 2 assists....Pistons up 19

I have no worries about the bench at all outside of Flip playing Evans over Delfino. I know that the current bench is about 10 times better than last year's. The fact that people are fighting between 2 backup swingmen proves this. Last year they didn't have any. Not to mention Tony Delk and Dale Davis.

That's why I'm nervous. Less so with the Delk acquisition, but still.....we've seen what Evans can bring, but if Delfino doesn't get enough time to get it rolling, we'll go into the playoffs missing a weapon that'd be MIGHTY nice to have.

I'm concerned, but I'm not nervous. they'll be playing playoff-bound teams soon, that should be a better measure of where they're at defensively.

why would some of you pistons fans be worried if you know what the pistons are capable of? i mean really, i really want an answer out of the ''nervous'' piston fans because the way i see it, we had a weak bench last year and still manage to get to the finals and we still have the same starting 5 from last year.

so what im trying to understand here is why are you nervous when its only the regular season? you sound like you have no faith at all and you think we need a super bench so the starters can have some rest and their minutes go down!? wtf, now i been hearing that overrated excuse for a while now. you know that excuse, the tired legs one? yeah its way overrated.

HCA is what the pistons want, not trying to find the right bench player on a championship team. you really have to think about. i remember when we were 15-2 and some of you was already talking about the playoffs. Thats a bad thing in my opinion. i think you should focus now the present not something in the future because what if the pistons would of loss all their games after that 15-2 start. thats why said, you need not to focus on the playoffs but right now. we have 16 more games left and we should be worried about finishing the season up.

i see why flip dont like to use his bench alot because everytime a bench player comes in ..... foul, foul, foul, PENALTY!! then we will have to play safe ball from there.
you should be congragulating flip for what hes done this season something rick nation, and larry clown couldnt do. at least flip is playing the bench more than larry clown could ever do.

mcdyess is fine;foul trouble, delk is good;nice D;good jumper, mo i like his hustle and 3 ball;not consistent, delfino somewhat ok.i think he is a little overrated though.ok D; foul trouble;not consistent. hunter is ok for his D. dale davis;should of retired
    kelvin cato;nice salary

overall i think are bench is pretty decent from last year, im not saying its good but im not saying its bad either. i just thought i had to get that off my chest.

We're as rational as any other fans. Fans overrreact, the other fans over-compensate for their negative comments. The negative people look level-headed and those that are positive come off looking irrational. So the negative idea takes root, and it becomes like trying to pull a weed by its roots. Everytime a loss happens or a bad performance/incident, the weed suddenly re-appears.

Eventually, when the playoffs start the fans stop eating their own and go after the younglings of their opponent. If that never happens, or the team stops growing, the fans still gnaw on their team.

The problem is, we're too close. We see every game, we know the holes in each player on our team, and so those become exaggerated in losses, and the team's abilities magnified in victory. Just because you can identify the weaknesses of a player, doesn't mean they aren't the same player you once thought they were.

It takes a very level-headed fanatic to spend hours on a fan site, spend money, time, and emotion on something that only rewards them in a final score or a spectacular move and not go a little stir-crazy.

That's the downside of having an International Fan Base; not every poster is going to have perfect English, so you gotta cut 'em some slack, I guess, even for the trolls.

rasheed wallace is few techs away from being suspended for alot of games, he has nearly reach the limit of 18 tech fouls and every tech results in a hefty suspension.
