Corey Brewer is awesome
Florida sop res Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer and Al Horford told a partisan crowd at the national championship celebration Friday night in Gainesville that they would return for their junior season.
Florida sports information director Fred Demarest said the three sop res announced to the fans that they would return, bringing the "O'Connell Center down."
Noah was the Final Four most outstanding player with an NCAA Tournament record 29 blocked shots in six games. The Gators beat UCLA on Monday night at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis for their first national le. The Gators were ESPN.com's preseason No. 1 team in the annual post- le game Top 25 released Wednesday.
Demarest said that Horford grabbed the microphone and asked the crowd "we've won two SEC [tournament] les, an NCAA championship and we're not sure how much more we can accomplish." But Demarest then said Noah followed up with, "What do you people want us to do?" The crowd apparently chanted back, "two more years." And then Noah said, "we're coming back."
Coach Billy Donovan confirmed the news, telling The Associated Press that he met with the three players Friday afternoon and they told him they wanted to try to repeat.
No team has won consecutive championships since Duke in 1991 and 1992.
The deadline to apply for the NBA draft is April 29. Players can declare and return as long as they don't sign with an agent. They must also pay for any NBA workout in advance (except for the Orlando pre-draft camp in June) or run the risk of sitting games the following season if they choose to return.
A year ago, North Carolina junior Sean May said he would return upon the championship Tar Heels returning home. But he later declared. So, it's probably good to wait for the 29th once all the emotion from the le is over before locking in the three Gators for next season.
The Gators had only one senior on the roster this season -- forward Adrian Moss.
Glad that they made their future brighter
so does that mean they in the draft year with oden n right??
Thanks, Billy.
Dumb moves. They should all come out now. You don't risk millions to try to win another NCAA championship. If the team flops, all three of their draft stocks could plummet.
As it stands, I don't think any of the three could improve their stock.
Maybe they couldn't improve their contract values, but are they really ready to play at the NBA level yet?
Other than Noah, I'd say no.
That's why we have the DLeague. They can get paid and still hone their skills.
I don't even think Noah is NBA ready, skills-wise.
Yeah, but if all you are is ready for the D League (and has anyone ever sent a legitimate big down there?), then you might as well stay in school another year, I say.
If Noah makes another leap like this year, he conceivable could given Oden a run for the #1 overall pick.
I'd say Horford is the most developed of the three. He's about as good as he's going to get on the college level. Brewer and Noah can still get better, but Noah is already a top three pick and Brewer is probably a lottery pick right now. In that system, none of the three are going to get the ball enough offensively to get much better.
Noah can refine his jumper and add some weight and Brewer can improve his ball-handling and his midrange game, but I don't think they'll improve on any of that in college. Horford is pretty much what he is -- a big bodied bruiser who can dribble and pass better than most players his size.
Noah can also learn not to travel every time he has the ball. He will get whistled all day in the NBA. I would say he travels over 50% of the time he's not dunking.
Well jeez, maybe they just want to stay in school to further their education.

Perhaps you didn't see this part:
And come to think of it, what could be better than being National Champion and BMOC in Gainsville?Florida
In the d-league, they'll get their full first round salaries, guaranteed money. I'm sure the booster money in FL doesn't amount to much, nor is it guaranteed. I agree with timvp on this one. I think their stock can only drop.
Negative, NBA referees rarely if ever call a travel. I see many NBA players travel and no call.
The way he travels, they'll call it. He travels really, really bad. Every scout agrees.
The way Tony and Manu travel, they don't call it.
Even the memerable poster dunk he had in the finals was a clear travel but the refs didn't call it. Footwork is a bit of an issue for him, but he has great ball handling ability for his size.
