Is there a place on the ballot to write in Mikey?
As you already know Mikeyp tried out for the Ticket 76 sportscaster contest had he known they were looking for comedians? I am sure he would have not done the show he did. He figured they wanted Sports so he did the best Sportscaster audition not seen or heard since the great Howard Cossell.
But leave it to the Ticket radio to find a way to up a good thing,
they went and picked on thier own, w/o any votes from the public, the 3 finalist they felt were funny.
Now they want you to go their website and vote on one of the 3 .
I heard two of them this morning and all they did was joke around, I am sure MikeyP and others would have loved to know that is what they wanted and could have maybe worked on thier comedy and not thier sports. thank you Peter Burns and Ticket 76, you make San Antonio proud

What for? they already know who they want. the whole contest was bogus. just like when Tony Bruno had his Tony Bruno for a day contest, they pimped that show for over two months as listeners sent in thier tapes. And right when they were getting ready to pick a winner? Andrew AshWood tells them to pick Stacie Burns. Many listeners were upset, Even Tony Bruno said on live air that it was rigged.Is there a place on the ballot to write in Mikey?
I'm sorry to hear that, Smackie! I was looking forward to listening to Mikey's broadcasts. This is criminal!

Ummmm...those three are competing to be semi-finalists. They are going to post more every day this week. In fact, they are still accepting tapes until noon today.
Horse ! On the rare instances I do listen to sports radio it's because I want to listen to people talking about sports. If I want to listen to a bunch of jackholes make jokes rather than analysis I'll watch Fox's football pre-game, ESPN Coast to Coast, Best Damn Sports Show, and a dozen other turds of sportscasting.
I may be in Houston, but I'll see what I can do about getting some torches and pitchforks together.
That sucks ass.

Thanks everyone for the support. The winner today becomes a semi-finalist. Apparently there are more entries to be played tomorrow or Wednesday because on Wednesday, Vex and Walter are going to announce more semifinalists on their show. I don't know if I have even been selected to be voted on. If I find out...I will let you all know. The only think I could think to do is go to the Ticket's site tomorrow and wednesday mornings and see if I am there. I like what I did in my entry. Even if I don't get selected...the love that has been shown here to me is overwhelming. Thank you all very much.

I don't know anything about what's happening now, but where the local radio sports stations mess up is they think listeners really want to hear the broadcasters.
If I'm going to regularly listen to someone talking about sports, they have to know what the they are talking about, not just some 40 year old bald guy that still lives at his parents house and watches a lot of tv. That said the only person in the last 15 years I've listened to on a regular basis is Bryan Cox and surprisingly he was more engaging than anybody else I heard because he was blunt, listened, interacted, and tried to be interested in what the caller had to say for the most part.
The jobbers at some of the local stations just like the sound of their own voice.

SA Sportstalk is always going to suck as long as the Spurs keep winning, they are the only team, etc. etc.
There isn't much to talk about.
There is no drama on this team, the coach is a media nerd. Their star player has nothing to say. etc. etc.

I agree , but the point of the topic was just that MikeyP was all Business. Thus he was not funny . hench he is not in the semi finals. MikeyP can turn on the humor and I should know, I know funny.
Charlie Parker said today it was OVER!!! he said although some may get thier tapes in before the NOON Deadline Today? He said they have the "3" they need!
In fact he said he doesn't even want to hear the last of the 3 as it is.
If there was going to be more to choose from why not post them all at once? Why would you have people waste their votes on only the first 3 if you still have others to vote for? It isn't fare to others as many who voted already may never visit the site again.
The bottom-Line , the ticket is looking for someone cheap and in a hurry to fill in a gap they have, now that one of their ticket shows moved to OAI.
This kinda reminds me of the Spurs acting like they are looking for local talent for the Spurs half time show, when really they are just to cheap to get real half time talent from Vegas.. I must admit many are trying out. So they did a good job making it look like this was for San Antonio and not to save $ money $

I hope the folks at the Station don't read this but, there was some talk about Mike maybe having an advantage by all the support he might get from spurstalk and that may not be fare for others. So they took him off the list.

well, i think the requirement first is to know a bunch of bull 70s rock music followed by a bunch of old ass movie actors and news that you can't use.
Then knowing a little bit about sports is a good thing as well.
And a impersonation of Avery Johnson helps to I guess.
