Since when did the Spurs become the Phoenix Suns East? Pop is anticipating matchups so much that he's managed to talk himself out of going with what is tried and true. The Spurs didn't get the one seed in the West this year with Robert Horry starting and their two centers sitting on the bench. They didn't win it with Brent Barry at the 4 spot. They won it with interior defense and that means TD and a center on the court for at least half of the game. For those who are so worried about matching up with the Mavs' wings, well, you are giving them what they want from the get go. Make the Mavs matchup with you. You have the advantage in the frontcourt. It's time for Pop to stop sipping a little too much of his favorite red and get back to coaching Spurs Basketball.

    You are absolutely right.

    Rasho C
    TIM PF
    Bowen SF watching over Howard
    Ginobili
    Parker

    Finley and Beno on perimeter
VanX and Nazr for fresh powers

    Horry for clutchness deluxe

We know everything about this team. So why don't they show us what are they capable. I want to know what does enormous upside potential actually mean?

I don't know. If you take out a center and play Horry or a wing then you have weakened your interior defense considerably. You force the Mavs to adjust to you. You do that by playing your centers and pounding the ball inside. Otherwise, if you go small then you are allowing them to put more offense on the floor against a weakened defense. There should be a shotblocker waiting at the rim, not a wide open lane for the layup.

Rasho and Nazr can help Tim crush anyone inside the paint. One loss is no big ing deal.

Pop went to Horry in the lineup to end the Kings' series. I'm not sure if his theory was that the turnaround was so quick that he wanted to stay with Horry in the starting lineup for continuity, but I think it was a poor decision. The Mavs' 5s can't play away from the basket like the Kings' can. Pop needs to go back to the lineup that put up 63 wins. Not that he has a little time, I suspect he will.

I don't have a problem with TP getting plenty of touches. The problem lies in giving up your strength from the start.

Duncan can't guard Howard or Nowitzki over a long period of time. Horry was forced in because of a defensive mismatch. I've been saying it all year that the spurs don't matchup well to the mavs. The spurs might be the better team but the mavs have the matchup advantage.

Howard or Nowitzki can't guard Duncan. I'll take that anytime.
