Ok, have had a 60 inch Phillips HDTV for about 2.5 years now and the bulb finally went out in the back. Called Phillips and they referred me to andrews electronics online for the bulb since Phillips no longer carries that part.

Result? $500 damn dollars for a new bulb? Come on! Went online and eventually found one for about $300.

My question to all the HDTV owners out there: Does anyone know of any online sites where the prices are lower for a freakin' bulb?

Or, maybe a place I can go to in person to get a better deal? I live just North of San Marcos, but I'll drive to SA, Austin, anywhere in that area if I can get a better price.

Any information/advice is MUCH appreciated. I had no idea that a light bulb would be this expensive, damn!

First off, thanks for looking! I'll get home tonight and get the owner's manual for the specific model #. All I could tell you right now is that it's a 2005, LCOC display Phillips model. I'll get more specifics tomorrow or maybe later today if the wife gets home and I can ask her.

    Thanks again.

I think I paid about about $250 for mine. I bought it from Bjorn's. My HD DLPTV is a samsung though. I found them for about $180 online but they were back-ordered like 3 months. The bulb box looked pretty generic. I think many brands use the same bulbs. I was in sticker shock too.

^Yeah, I freaked out when I saw an initial cost of $500 for a LAMP!

But, I kept at it on the net today and eventually found the replacement lamp for my tv at $169.00 with a one year warranty, I don't think I'm going to do much better-also free next day shipping and handling.

The other 'tricky' part to this, and if anyone else has a rear projection TV-please take note, is that you don't need the casing and the lamp. All you need is the replacement lamp, and then you can just take out the old lamp and put in the new one in the orignial casing.

I was amazed by the price descrepancy between the lamp by itself and the lamp with the casing. In most istances there was a good 150-200 dollar price difference!

Anyway, this is my first big screen HDTV, so I guess it's all part of the learning process. Thanks again for any other advice or sites to look at for replacement lamps!
