I must have missed the part when we signed Pryzbilla.
The real reason they don't want scola is there are only so many mins to give to players. They know for a fact that ian will be a star. That leaves us with oberto, javtoaks, joel przy, ian, tim duncan on team. there just isn't room for scola eventual our team will have
ian and przy as our main bigs and javtokas as the major big off the bench Scola won't be happy here because he won't be a starter and will not get minutes over tim and ian. Unless he turns into a 3 or point gaurd there isn't a slot for him to play. and certianly not for 4 mil when we will need a new backup guard and 3

spurs could trade scola if he was not happy
Ummmm, well Przy isn't a Spur yet. Oberto was disappointing. Javtokas and Ian are unproven. So I really don't think that's the reason. Kind of a glass half-full approach I guess. I certainly hope our bigs turn out to be so good that Scola can't find minutes on this team, but for now that's just a premature assumption. Here's to hoping I guess.
Scola was nothing more than an over hyped spur fans internet star. The spurs decided he just wasn't going to be good enough to be worth bringing over.
or when ian came over
We overhyped him so much they named him first team All-Euroleague over there in the 2nd best B-Ball league in the world.
I don't see why everyone is so upset about the lack of offseason moves for a team that won 63 games this past year and only lost in the playoffs because of unfortunate nagging injuries to TP and Manu and a lack of any kind of logical adjustments during a series where the defense was giving up 110 a night. We got nothing from VanX and Barry, and hardly any one else off the bench got any kind of a chance to shine. I know we are spoiled as Spurs fans, but come on!!
basicly scola was a good option until they were sure ian was going to be better then scola.
oberto is your cheap scrub like keven willis and your dirk stopper
javtaks is your quality backup big man
przy is your rasho 2.0 Offense with defense young player
ian is your eventually tim duncan replacement tim isn't getting any younger
so
tony>need backup
manu retires
bowen retires
ian
przy
as you see their isn't a slot for scola to have and we need to have draft pics and money MLE, cap space to spend filling the holes we have for other players. We aren't in the jason kidd era were we have tons of cap space. so wasting cap space when holt doesn't want to pay luxry tax on a player like scola just cannot be done. We already have the better argentina big man in oberto.
We already have the better argentina big man in oberto.
I am not convinced
I know oberto is cheaper I doubt better
Saying Oberto is better than Scola just seems silly to me. Not because I know Scola is gonna be good, but because Oberto was incredibly limited this year. Yes, there are reasons for those limitations, but he certainly hasn't showed much to inspire such optimism. And putting "Oberto" and "Dirk stopper" in the same sentence only makes sense if "is not a" is in the middle.
And why are you so sure the Spurs are gonna sign przy? I really like the guy, and I hope the Spurs sign him, but that hardly seems definite. And the Spurs are hardly "sure" that Ian is gonna be great. He's hardly a lock to be the replacement for Duncan. Again, I hope you're right, he's shown potential. But potential and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee. We might know more after the summer leagues when we can hopefully see Javtakus and Ian in action, but until then, I wouldn't say the Spurs are certain about anything.
spurs aren't the knicks we aren't going 70 million over the cap.
soild D said in another thread and I am quoteing because I think it fits here too.
ian the future star of spurs with a rookie contract
przy your "big stiff"
tony your expereinced playoof leader with skillz
talent and srubs to surround the main players
if we don't sign przy, then nazr will be there. just ebcause we don't sign przy doesn't mean we don't need a starting center we have NONE now!
and scola isn't a center
why woudl spurs trade a quality center in rasho for no one unless there was a secert wink wink deal done with rashos agent for przy?

Ian Replace Timmy?? Damn, you are smoking some strong stuff. Once Timmy's gone, we're gonna suck unless we hit another lottery for a Game Breaker like Timmy. Not likely.
why did he sign a one year contract?
maybe because a two year would be to long?
Przybilla signing with the Spurs is not a likelihood, plus he and his wife (and their families) are from Wisconsin, so Chicago would seem a strong attraction.
I doubt bulls will sign both przy and ben wallace.
A post about 76ers was posted to the media just so ben can get mreo money out of bulls
Because it was June and Przybilla was still under contract with the Trailblazers and they would all be in big trouble if he was even discussed.
Because the connection between players on different teams having the same agent is overblown.
Because they wanted to dump Rasho's contract and think they can always get some big guy to come here.
Because Tim is the center- haven't you heard?
As to the topic of this thread- Scola isn't here because the Spurs don't want him here. Everything you read about him from the Spurs is propaganda aimed at fans who are tired of waiting for him and want him here. Scola will never, ever be a Spur.
RIP - Scola's Future with the Spurs.
We all waited and now we know................. that you aren't good enough to replace Rasho.
Passing on Scola is going to come back to haunt us.
The reason Scola has not signed with the Spurs is his buyout. Beyond that might be a feeling that he will not fit in the Spurs' system, but the buyout is reason #1. Speculation on s om for Spurs' talent abroad is a bit premature.
I don't think Scola will be a star but a very good NBA player like Nocioni is or Corliss Williamson used to be. Maybe a little better than Williamson.
Since when is Ian Mahinmi a star? Since when has he ever projected as such? At best, at this point, he'll be an effective athletic backup center. Let's stick with those expectations, shall we?
This sucks, we have too much problems with our center position.
bulls want him bad
except they want ben first
