Is game 5 a must win for Dallas?

After all, if they lose game 5, Phoenix comes home to play what would be a close out game.

    Opinions?

    Go Pistons!!!

    Go Suns!!!

Isn't every game a must win in the playoffs?

Tonight was a must-win for the Suns. Game 5 is not a must-must-win for either team, because either team could conceivably win two in a row.

Both the Mavs and Suns have proven that home-court advantage doesn't have a huge impact. I don't know if this is true, but I saw a stat that said that the Suns are 6-3 in their last 9 games in Dallas.

At this point, I think this series could go in any direction.

I kind of agree with you. However, from a certain perspective it looks like a win by Phoenix in Dallas would be harder for Dallas to overcome than a win by Dallas in Dallas.

If Phoenix loses, they lost a game on the road and come back to play game 6 at home where their chance to win is higher than the Mavericks. In this way, Phoenix would not have thrown away home court advantage, unlike Dallas in the alternative scenario. Plus, they regain momentum heading into a game 7 where anything could happen.

If Dallas loses, they lost a game at home and have lost home court advantage. Then, they come to play an elimination game 6 on the road in Phoenix. They will have lost 2 games in a row and have lost momentum at a time where it could be important.

In any event, I think that this position is a reasonable one and could be defended.

You make a good point, but then again...I can't see Phoenix beating this Mavericks team 3 times in a row in the Western Conference Finals.

If Dallas wins in Dallas, I think Phoenix will win in Phoenix, and we'll be seeing a Game 7.

I can see that. If Dallas wins in Dallas, I agree that Phoenix is probably going to win game 6 in Phoenix, leading to a game 7.

Important but not an elimination game so it's not a must.

This series is going 6 games, at least.

We now have 3-game series, HCA to Mavs.

It would be extremely dangerous for Mavs to drop Game1(6), but I don't think they will.

Quite possibly the most genius thing every posted here...

I was going to predict Mavs in 5 today until I read that...

    Mavs will win it.

I'm not so sure.... damn, the Suns are just an incredibly resilient team.

Suns vs Heat would be... interesting to say the least.

Game 5 is beyond huge for both teams. About as close to a must win as you can get.

Suns will need another win in Dallas and probably don't want to wait for a game 7 to try and get that done.

Dallas doesn't want to go back to Phoenix facing elimination in game 6.

It is absolutly a must win game for mavs. Last night, they played like it didn't matter. They played with no heart. I don't remember watching the spurs win championships without heart in every game. Nobody stepped up. When Adrian Griffin has to take over, that spells trouble. If Howard can't play, that's trouble x 10.

Oh, we had our moments. And they were definitely not something we would want anyone to remember.

I think its a must win for both teams.

I think that must-win is when one is down with another team, which has 3 wins. If you understand..

Seriously - i do not think game 5 is a must-win for Dallas. I have a feeling this will go to 7 game series.
