So ST.com time to show your knowledge and post your best Margaritas recipes in this thread. I believe I have everything I need, I just need your advice on the quan ies and mixing methods.

I personnaly prefer regular "on the rocks" Margaritas, but don't let you this stop you - if you have a good recipe, share it!

P.S. Spare me the famous buy some margaritas mixure and pour in the Tequila advice, since Margaritas mixure is not available over here (at least no good one).

    3 cups ice cubes
    Salt for rim garnish, optional
Orange and lime slices for garnish, optional

    Directions:

    1. your favorite tequila...
    2. grand marnier
    3.fresh lime juice....

mix to your liking, 1/3-1/3-1/3 and go from there....

also, add a simple syrup(water and sugar) if it is too sour...

everyone thinks their margarita is the best.. that is why i say mix to your liking...

2 oz. tequila -- silver Patron or Herradura work really well
1 1/2 oz fresh lime juice (50/50 lemons and limes also works pretty well)
1 oz Cointreau -- triple sec is acceptable, but you can definitely tell the difference

Circle the rim of the margarita glass with the inside of the used lime rind to wet the rim, then dip in margarita salt. Fill the glass with ice cube.

Shake the ingredients with ice in a tail shaker to get properly cold, then pour.

Not really, but there are 3 things I really miss from the US:
1.- Buffalo Wings - with the help of Summers I mastered this dish, so that's not a problem anymore.

    2.- Good beef fajitas - *cough*stillwaitingformannytosendmesomerecipes*cou gh*

3.- Good Margaritas - Although there's a few places you can get good Margaritas in Europe none of them are in Slovenia.

I figured it's not rocket science so I want to learn to make them myself. I googled fro recipes but it seems that everybody has his/her own favourite, that's why I asked for the help of the ST.com people

i was very surprised myself when it was made and served to me.
yep, it sure did taste like a margarita.
the OJ is minimal, (sweet ness I think) and he said the S&S wass interchangeable with that crap lime mix in a bottle.

I've made it 4 times since then and it's delicious.

Sweet and sour is just lemon juice and syrup -- so I guess that's logical. I just wouldn't call a drink that's lemon/orange a Margarita because it's missing the lime juice.

technically, the sweet and sour is the crap that is interchangeable with real lime juice... S&S is just recons uted lemon juice...it is basically the lazy bartenders that like s&s... and the oj helps the sourness... it is called making the drink stoned...

but chilis also makes a margarita w/o any lime and with oj.. i forget what it is called...

for me, if you aren't using real lime juice, then it really isn't a margarita...

so then I guess I could modify this recipie by using lime/frozen lime/concentrated lime instead of the s&s.
but i don;t think I'll ever stop putting in the OJ now that I know about it.

    damn it;s good.

Chi Chis in the PA-OH area?
Yeah, in Cabo a few places actually added a little OJ and/or Pineapple juice to add a little sweetness.
The Italian Margs @ Perico's w/a little Amaretto are also pretty boss.
