Rasho Nesterovic?
Turns out he didn't even break the record for attempts in a postseason set by MJ. He just tied it at 229.
I'll give you all five guesses who broke it. By 21 attempts.

Rasho Nesterovic?
Why is this relevant?
Free throws had nothing to do with the Mavs' collapsing.
2nd guess = Ben Wallace?
no..my mom can only make the base line jumpers
I hear Mark Cuban likes to play basketball ... was it him?
Dirk actually set a different record. Most free throws attempted with fewest drives to the basket.
lol..and most free throw attemps without being fouled
You're confusing two different things. The record he broke was free throws made, not free throws attempted.
Yeah, and the fact that Dirk even tied it means that the refs didn't favor D-Wade as much as all you ed about... but it's ok Holmes Fans, I remember when you put me in my place when I complained that Dirk attempted more FTs than the Suns in 2 games of the WCF and told me to shut the up about officiating and the Suns' "gimmick" offense... I guess your "gimmick" 3rd place MVP didn't do the last 4 games... judging by the fact that he scored a total of 5 points total in the last four 4th quarters...
Hey remember when this thread was posted on Mavstalk, and then at the very bottom someone with half a brain set the record straight? Since you dont I´m gonna copy and paste it for you.
"Dwyane Wade, nor Dirk for that matter, didn't even come close to breaking the record for FTA in a playoff year. As a matter of fact, MJ doesn't even come close to the record.
The record for most FTA in a playoff year is 296, set by Shaquille O'Neal in 2000. He also has the 2nd and 3rd most FTA in the playoffs, 261 in 1995 and 254 in 2004. Prior to this year, Tim Duncan was 4th with 232 in 2003. Next was Jordan with 229 in 1989.
If you are going to trash someone. at least have the facts straight."
Straight off your in message board, where your dumbass should be.
Oh what´s that? YEAH, SHUT THE UP! Im not sure if you originally posted it, but if not way to plagiarize someone else´s dumb thread...and you did it verbatim. Impressive. , even if you did originally post it you´re still a dumbass for not looking up credible information. Either way, off.

BTW Dirk broke the playoff record for free throws made, since you didnt know that either.
I hate being overseas cause I cant be around for Holmes fan´s response.
How many games did Jordan do it in?
How many games did Dirk do it in?
FT's made per game is a MUCH more relavant stat than total # of FT's made...
I´ll try to look it up.
Assuming I didnt count wrong. Dirk averaged 9ftm and 10fta in 23 games during the playoffs. He had 205 ftm and 229 fta during the playoffs. Now to find Jordan´s count.

For Jordan in 1989 he had 183 ftm and 229 fta in 17 playoff games, for per game averages of 10.7 ftm and 13.4 fta respectively. I also looked at his 1998 playoff campaign cause they played just 2 games less than Dirk. In 98 he had 181 ftm and 223 fta in 21 games, for per game averages of 8.6 ftm and 10.6 fta. So by per game averages Jordan´s 1989 campaign is the freethrow shooting king. But Dirk´s accomplishment this year is very similar to Jordan in 98. Im sure Shaq´s per game fta has to be higher than Jordan´s either of those 2 years, but since he cant hit them his ftm must be in the ter.
So Dirk getting all those free throws was legit, but the extra 21 shots proves the NBA is fixed. Rrrrright.
Doug Collins made up for years of my abuse of his commentary with this complete ownage of anything fans try to come up with... nice to see HolmesFans is MIA... still, Doug you have to make up for losing to the USSR, drafting Kwame Brown, and dying your hair blonde....
If I recall correctly, it wasn't a record number of ATTEMPTS, it was a record number of FT MADE.
Have we figured out who broke it yet?
I'd like to throw in my guess of Troy Murphy for the win, Alex.
He shoots and he scores.
