I am up for trading anyone outside Bruce, Tim, Manu, Tony and Finley.
i dont like this guy. i know hes only been in the league one year, but at 30 years old, hes still going to need time to improve, and that means getting older than he already is. i dont see him as a good fit for the spurs, and you people that think he could be the starting center for us is stupid, when he can barely play a good role coming off the bench. i think that would be suicide. so is anyone with me? if you want to jump on my trade Oberto bandwagon, let it be heard here. i dont have any trade scenarios in mind, but we could possibly trade him and luis scola's rights to someone else, because i dont see scola playing for the spurs this year
I am up for trading anyone outside Bruce, Tim, Manu, Tony and Finley.
^id cut manu and finley from that list quicker than you could convince timvp to be conservative
haha. i am too. if theres any players that i want to see gone, its Beno and Oberto
If the Spurs were getting a star back, I'd agree. But it doesn't seem feasible.
Oberto to the Hawks for a second round pick.
I add Horry to this list.
I guess that Oberto will be traded.
Spurs need a quality big (a starting PF), there are usualy 5 bigs on an active roster and Oberto/Bonner/javtoaks/Duncan/Horry are still here : Oberto is the odd man.
Only player I don't trade is Tim. Everyone else I don't care if they get traded as long as it's a good trade.
Oberto? If a team out there wants him, I'm all ears.
Id include Parker in on the list of players I wouldn't trade.
Duncan, Parker,
everyone else is fair game.
Parker and Bowen for Chris Paul and David West.
Where do I sign?
Haha, no way that'd ever go down. You'd have to offer Tim Duncan or a Parker/Ginobili two pack to get Chris Paul off that team.
True. 'Twas just an example that there are no untradeables on this team outside of Tim.
If you are going to talk about things that won't happen, then everybody can be traded.
The players I named are those I consider untradeable because I was being realistic. No one is knocking down the door offering Wade for Manu or anything like that.
you guys are crazy, like it or not Manu is SA's favorite player. No way from a marketing standpoint you could ever make a case for trading this guy. I can't believe you guys, you blame Manu for going up to block a shot to send us to the next round after he almost single handedly got us back in that game and then put us ahead.
Manu, Parker, and Bowen are the Spurs. I would hate to lose them. Spurs can win championships all day with that core, it's just the role players have to be better.
Look at some of our role players from last season:
Oberto - scrub
Rasho - scrub
Nazr - scrub with moments
Van Exel - scrub because of age
Beno - overconfident scrub
Barry - wishy washy
Finley was an awesome pick up and Horry is still good for 10-15 minutes a game, but the Spurs were using Horry like he was 25 years old and playing him 30 minutes in the playoffs.
It's a credit to the big 4, the Spurs did as well as they did with all of these guys bringing them down.
Also, the Spurs were basically centerless. Horry was usually our big man for prime time minutes.
Tim raised his game big in the playoffs, but the Spurs front office screwed themselves over by not making any moves. They get Tim Thomas and the Spurs are having their little river parade today.
Getting rid of Rasho was huge.
If they get rid of Oberto, make that x2.
Sounds good, Oberto will have more time to play and Spurs will get sth for the future.
J Oneal for Manu
What she said.
Problem is, will any team want our other players (besides Bruce, Tim, Manu, Tony and Finley)?
I wouldn't dump Oberto just to dump him. He's a savvy player. He played well when Pop inserted him into the rotation in the Dallas series and that was with him having sat for quite a while.
me too. Do you know what Oberto's contract is? I know he's not making big bucks and probably not guaranteed for long.
How tradeable is he, since he didn't get a chance to show much this year--or maybe he didn't have much to show when it came time to play in the big show.
What would some GM see in him that makes him tradeable>
Of course, I'm not talking about Isaiah Thomas.
Oberto makes $2.5 this year and has a player option for one more year, so he's not very expensive.
I'd hate to trade him at this point, especially as we're suddenly weak down low. While he has little athleticism, we'd be hard-pressed to find a smarter and harder working player to come willingly off the bench.
Ummm... no.
Seems like The Spurs had lost their FA and personell touch.
After hitting gold with Manu and Parker, last years keeping VanEx and Beno seems like a total waste for one of the two.
Ditto Fabs. If he was only gonna be a one year deal, why sign him to three?
Somebody dropped the ball.
I know you Pop lovers will cringe, but how long is Pops contract?
Its ok with me as log as they dont trade Tim, Tony, Manu, Horry and Barry.. theyre the ones shining in the Spurs
