Saw him on HBO's Real Sports.
Has anybody ever heard of him? He played in the ABA for a while. He was a awesome scorer I remember reading awhile back about his string of 50 point games. However He was one of the wildest characters in NBA history.
Here are some of his wildest moments:
He once wrote a poem about DR J:
There once was a doctor named Erving,
Whose slam dunks were especially unnerving,
But when Marvin gets movin',
And the crowd gets to groovin',
For the doctor a hospital bed they'll be reserving.
One time he showed up to the game 5 minutes before tipoff wearing his uniform with a full mink coat eating a Big Mac and fries. Didnt effect his game much though he still scored over 40 points.
_______________
His rookie season with the Spirts of St. Louis in 1974 also is when Bob Costas got his start in sports broadcasting as the team's rookie play-by-play man.
