i guess this is mostly for midgetonadonkey and oli, but these are worth checking out for sure:

madlib got access to the trojan record vaults, and did this mix:

bill laswell also got access and did a 2 disc set, mostly of stuff he cleaned up and remastered, but some are good dubs of great songs - you can really tell how much better the audio is in Augustus Pablo's Java, which is an awesome track:

Thanks for the headsup. After getting that Roots Tonic album I also bought some of Laswells other dub albums. Very very good stuff, his other jazz albums are cool as well.

I've never really listened to much Dub. I've heard a couple of The Scientist albums and Easy Star All-Star's Dub Side of the Moon but I can't really get into it. I'm a big fan of Roots Reggae, 1st and 2nd wave Ska and some Dancehall.

i got into dub through laswell and then lee perry, most of laswell's albums have a dub base with improvisation over it. i like how dub artists break reggae songs down to their base elements, the beats are incredible. my favorite is scientist, Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires is one of my favorite albums. it's always cool to hear a dub of a popular reggae song, gives both of them an interesting slant. it's great music to listen to at a job you don't particularly care for at least. i think i remember you saying you liked yellowman, mad professor does an intersting dub of one his called a feast of yellow dub.

Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires is the one I heard. It's a pretty badass album. I do like Yellowman and I'll check out the dub you recommend.

These are a few albums I listen to often and recommend highly.

Reggae Tribute to Bob Dylan. It's amazing. Beres Hammonds remake of Just Like a Woman is incredible.

Too Rude is a band out of So Cal and this album is fantastic. I've never really been a fan of white boys doing reggae but this album is great.
